Are you pre or post-op? Either way, the best way to kick the carb habit is to go back to putting Protein first. You might even want to return to just a liquid diet of Protein Shakes for a few days.

I too was consuming too many calories. So, I did the 5 day pouch test and am back on track and down 5 lbs. I really works and lets you know that your tool is still functioning. Might want to give it a try.

I've been eating so much / frequently, a lot of carbs .. How do I stop

How far post-op are you?

Are you tracking, weighing, and measuring your food?

Are you planning your meals and Snacks?

Are you not bringing high-carb and starchy foods into the house?

Have you talked to your NUT about your difficulties?

Try going back to basics.

Follow your program.

Focus on eating Protein first and avoiding starches and added sugars.

Eat slowly, take small bites, and chew thoroughly.

Get in ALL of your Protein and AT LEAST 64 oz of Fluid or more a day.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as required.

Exercise.

It's the reset plan. If you google the 5 day pouch test you will see. I actually order the book from Amazon and it has some recipes that Im going to try too, but get the book. It;s only $5.00 on Amazon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
