Kindle 8,667 Posted February 5, 2016 Well now I remember why I don't go on vacation. Left my house 18 hours ago. 1st flight on time. 4 hour delay at next airport. Finally made it to the third airport and Now have been sitting on the runway for almost 4 hours before they decided the plane doesn't actually work. Headed back to the terminal with no word on when or even if we will ever be departing. I'd seriously rather be back at work.
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted February 5, 2016 Ugh! Flying is the worst! Coming back from Mexico after my VSG I my flight from O'hare back to my hometown was canceled and I didn't even know until my connecting flight landed. Found out there was only one other flight to my home town that day and it was departing from a terminal clear on the other side of the airport in 15 minutes! So I literally RAN across O'hare (eight tenths of a mile!) 4 days post-op to catch that last flight. Only to find out it was delayed and I ended up just sitting at that terminal for almost 3 hours! Babbs 14,681 Posted February 5, 2016 That's why sometimes, I just prefer "staycations". There's lots of things to do around Boise and Idaho that I can do and not deal with the hassle of air travel or being too far away from home!
Djmohr 6,965 Posted February 5, 2016 If I got back all the hours I sat in airports or on the tarmack.......I used to travel for work every week for about 15 of my 25 years at Best Buy. I would be a whole lot younger! Just saying!
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted February 5, 2016 I remember when flying used to be a real pleasure. It has sucked since 9/11 and only got worse after the recession.

I took my first airplane ride when I was 35 in 2002. Don't care for it at all, lol. I'm a nervous wreck anytime I fly.

WLSResources/ClothingExch 3,444 Posted February 5, 2016 @@Kindle, if I'm reading you correctly, your vacation is/was to begin with three flights? A vacation is no more than two flights to destination. More than that and we're talking flying for work, namely, an archeological dig in some unknown region of the planet. Some day I'll tell you about the time I was arrested along with two other passengers as we were trying to get our flight. It was all the fault of the idiot airline and the idiot feds. Well when you LIVE in a rural region there is almost no place you can fly to without taking 3 flights. And at this point I'd love to be arrested. At least they serve food in jail. VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted February 5, 2016 LOL (but not really). Sorry this is the start of your anticipated warm-weather vacation. Normally, flying really isn't this bad. (I fly a lot -- and also have to connect to get anywhere.)
VDLT 244 Posted February 5, 2016 Oh Kindle sorry its been a rough start to your vacation. Just make sure once you get there you have double the fun to make up for it

lifeofblair 308 Posted February 5, 2016 I'm flying in April by myself for the first time. I made sure my connecting flights were spaced out but I hate to sit bored too long also.
CowgirlJane 14,260 Posted February 5, 2016 I love travel, but I didn't love spending the night on the floor of the Houston airport in April when returning from costa Rica! Of course, alot better then covered wagon days. or having to hoof it!
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted February 5, 2016 O'hare.......Ugh! That is why I am glad that Midway Airport is not far from home. However, you stand less of a chance of getting direct flights to many places.
