I have five. They are each about an inch long. No biggie.

I am not yet 3 months out and my scars are already beginning to fade. I had 5 incisions which included 1 which is about an 1 inch, 2 that are about a .5 inch, and 2 are .25 inch. My understanding is they will fade over time.

However, I plan to get small tattoos there, to mark them as a reminder of this life long journey that I am on, and what I have been through. Oh, just call me sentimental. In the event that they completely fade, I will have a momentum.

I have new 4 scars, they used a previous scar for the 5th incision. I was closed with staples so I have 4 butterfly looking scars across my stomach. I'm only 3 weeks post surgery so they're still pretty red. Hoping they fade. My Dr recommended getting a cocoa butter lotion.

I have 5 scars, 4 incisions and 1 where the drain was. One is right at the bottom of my breast bone and is only about 1/2 inch long. One is to the right of and just below my belly button and is about 3/4 inch long. One is to the left of and just below my belly button and is 1 inch long. One is a little further up and to the left of that and is about 3/4 inch long. The drain hole is way over to the left and is about 1/4 inch in diameter.

You can see them in a post I made about my TT scar. That photo was taken about 1 year post-VSG:

I have 6 scars. 5 incisions and 1 opening where the drain went out. The one above my belly button is about an inch long, the others were half an inch or smaller.

Mine were closed with suture glue (not staples), and 3 1/2 weeks out 2 of them have almost completely disappeared.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
