Kgmz0219 10 Posted February 5, 2016 March 28th is my scheduled surgrey. Lately I've found myself wanting to eat more then I normally do because I know after this surgrey I won't be able to eat as much or eat certain foods. Anyone else experiencing this?? I'm kinda feeling bad about it. Ugh
Lizzzie 0 Posted February 5, 2016 My surgery date is on the 23rd Feb. I'm eating like a machine this week because it's like my last supper. Enjoy it. Then you can't start fresh with your pre-op diet and say goodbye to binging My surgery date is on the 23rd Feb. I'm eating like a machine this week because it's like my last supper. Enjoy it. LEILE 66 Posted February 5, 2016 Hi there, Completely normal. I had my surgery on January 6th--right after Christmas and New Year--I definitely was part of the last supper group. I ate a lot, up until two days before my surgery and then I was put on pure liquids. Tomorrow, I am a month out and I am now 22 pounds down. Be gentle with yourself. Consult with your surgeon. JamieLogical 8,710 Posted February 5, 2016 It's called "food funerals" and is common behavior. The thing you need to remind yourself of is that you WILL be able to enjoy all of your favorite foods again someday, just in smaller quantities.
Samara1974 116 Posted February 5, 2016 I did the same thing it it normal. I just got tired of it all. My friends & family were like "Do you have any other places you want to eat or things you want to eat before your pre-op diet?" By that time I was pretty happy with my choices, I didn't gain any weight by making sure my portions were small but my cravings for the old foods were satisfied. 4MRB4PHOTO 3,900 Posted February 5, 2016 Don't binge or have food funerals. You will be able to eat the same foods at the appropriate stage, just in smaller quantities and less frequently for some, after WLS.
Pescador 1,374 Posted February 5, 2016 I think the psychological aspect of the impending surgery causes this. I remember going and spending two hours in the grocery store, relaxing and reading food labels was good for me. I just kept busy!!!
