I am starving and all i can think about is taco bell. AGAIN I am ruining myself. why in the world doesnt the sleeve just make you stop craving crap they need a drug for it or something. but Yeah I am going to taco bell having pintos and cheese maybe a taco and a couple of potatoes... I wish I could control myself.

You can control yourself. It's not cheating, it's a choice. Don't get in the car, don't drive to taco bell and don't give them your money.

How far out are you that you can eat Beans, tacos and potatoes?

Today at lunch I walked by a person that had an order of a dozen deep fried chicken gizzards. She offered me one and for some reason, unexplainable to me, I couldn't resist. I took it, and ate it like a pro. This is my first cheat since I was sleeved in November. I had already planned out my days caloric intake, and a fried chicken gizzard definitely was NOT on the books. I've been almost perfect in following the plan till now. It's not a taco, but probably worse. Deep fried in transfatty oil and heavily coated in grease and batter. At this point, all I can do is realize the gizzard did not add back the 68 lbs I've lost nor will it IF I realize all I had was a hiccup. For now, I am back on plan.

Lee's chicken. They are delicious. Lots of places in the south sell chicken gizzard and liver. They are a good source of Iron.< /p>

Where the heck do you order a dozen deep fried chicken gizzards? Never heard of such a thing. Thinking it is regional?

Most KFCs will allow you to order them if you call ahead of time. It's kind of a secret menu item and nasty as hell.

Well everything at KFC is nasty. Properly prepared they really taste like nothing at all. Just tough Protein.

Yes, they are chicken that doesn't taste like chicken.< /p>

Silly question...has anyone attempted to put a taco in the blender? That was one of my first thoughts before I got sleeved but didn't try to do it. Yet.

I dont doubt that, but my already queasy tummy is objecting to the mere mention. I feel myself turning green....lol

It's funny that calamari, sashimi and sushi don't phase me but this does...Ha!

No, and have had no desire to do so.

I didn't have a puree phase (transitioned from full liquids to soft). When I was on soft foods I ate refried Beans with melted cheese. When I was cleared for it I had the Beans with either ground taco meat or chicken.

I eat Taco Bell all the time. I was sleeved on 2/3 and I'm down 54lbs. I eat a soft taco or a mini shredded chicken quesadilla. One of either fills me up and goes down fine.

Not sure if God was looking out for me but the Taco Bell/kfc restaurant which is the only fast food restaurant near me closed down 2 days before I went into surgery. I did not typically do fast food but if I did it was that Taco Bell. I feel really lucky that there arent many more closer to me. And most don't have drive thru's and parking is a bitch. So it really keeps me honest ;). Now if only they would shut the Burger King in the middle of my city down I would be golden. Ha!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
