almost 2 weeks post op

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody, I am almost 2 weeks post op and the beginning I lost 11 lbs and now I havnt lost anything? I was wondering what stalls the progress? Is it not enough Water and protien? So far that has been my struggles. This concerns me because soon I will be able to eat real food so does that mean I am not going to lose weight.. Like I have seen most of you make it to like a month with 50lbs weight loss What Gives???

Any advice Please help

It's pretty common for people to experience a stall at 2 or 3 weeks out. Your body is adapting to all of the trauma it's just experienced. Stick to the plan, meet your Protein and Water goals, take your Vitamins, walk as much as you can (not too intensely yet, you're still healing) and the scale will move again. Try not to concentrate on the scale right now. Instead concentrate on your healing and recovery.

PS: I "only" lost 14 pounds my first month and 8 the month after that. Not everyone loses insanely quickly. Comparing yourself to others is a recipe for frustration and disappointment.

You are two weeks out from abdominal surgery. Your body has one overriding goal right now: healing. Your body will do what it has to to make sure you have what it needs to heal. It isn't likely to let go of weight quickly right now when it needs everything you've got to repair itself.

Relax. Stay off the scale, Get in your Water, and your Protein. Rest when you're tired. Keep moving. This is not a race, it's the rest of your life.

I agree, you just had major surgery and your body is healing. Getting all of your Protein and fluids is critical for healing and for weight loss.

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the weight loss process. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience stalls and most of us experience our first stall about three weeks after surgery. It will not be your last.

Are you following your program?

Are you tracking your food?

Are you getting in ALL of your Protein and Fluid every day?

Are you eating slowly, taking small bites, and chewing thoroughly? This will be really important as you transition to more solid foods.

Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed?

Are you exercising? Walking is fine in the first few weeks after surgery.

Stay off the scale and Embrace the Stall!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
