jwhit83 1 Posted February 4, 2016 I seem to gain a few pounds then lose a few. I'm frustrated. How can this happen?
Kindle 8,667 Posted February 4, 2016 It just does. I gained 3 pounds at 6 weeks out and it took me a month to lose it. Just stuck with the plan and subsequently lost 100 pounds. Recently I put myself on a voluntary "preop diet" of 3 Protein shakes/day and leafy green veggies in order to drop a few pounds before going on vacation. 70g Protein, 120oz fluids, almost no carbs and Probably 1/2 the calories I normally get. And I gained 2 pounds the first day. Your body just does crazy shit. All you can do is keep on plan and stay off the scale.
SassyNanny 311 Posted February 4, 2016 Sounds like you hit a stall. I had a 3 week stall at 6 weeks. Up a pound down a pound. I stuck with it and this week I've lost 6 pounds. It's a normal thing. Search it on here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ruth1ess 494 Posted February 5, 2016 I have yet to be sleeved, but my body seems to do that when I'm trying to lose weight. I'll gain three lbs, then lose 5. Gain 2, lose 6. It's a weird process, but it's what my body wants to do even when I'm doing everything right.
jwhit83 1 Posted February 5, 2016 Thanks. I just began on here and have read about stalls. Just hope it's not forever!
Heather I 500 Posted February 5, 2016 I just reintroduced exercise and light weight training, and it's frustrating because I'm eating really well to get ready for surgery later this spring. I'm up 5 lbs after eating right and exercising this week, but it's happened to me before EVERY TIME I start something new physically. I've always retained a lot of Water for surgery, pregnancy, childbirth, periods, and this just goes with it. Annoying, but I'm hoping for the best in a couple days and my usual 5 lb loss. carrie3101 11 Posted February 5, 2016 Hi there, I'm exactly 2 months post op, and gained 2 pounds this week for absolutely no reason. It is incredibly frustrating when you're following the plan. I totally feel your pain, buddy. Hoping it gets better for both of us soon
VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted February 5, 2016 Eventually, you will get used to taking two steps forward, then half a step back. From what I can tell (after reading hundreds / thousands of WLS patients' weight-losing histories), this is how weight loss works for almost all WLS patients. I know in my case it worked like that. I just took a look at my weekly weigh-ins. In the last 76 weeks I've lost weight (ranging from -0.2 pounds to -5.2 pounds) during 53 weeks. I've gained weight (ranging from +0.2 pounds to +2.0 pounds) during 18 weeks. And I've stayed the same weight during 5 weeks. My weight loss chart shows a downward trending line, but not a perfectly straight downward line. Be patient. Stay the course. Do today what you're supposed to do today. You will be successful.
