baylyy 9 Posted February 3, 2016 Hello friends ! I am from Ontario, Canada and I will be having rny through OHIP (Bariatric Network). One problem. THE WAIT TIME!! -begin rant- At first I was like oh ndb, this is so worth waiting for (and don't take me wrong, I am not second guessing for a second.) But I think I am actually going crazy! It started with being obsessed with other patients success and failure stories, doing all of the research ( I could probably perform the surgery now lol) But lately, I find myself putting my life on hold untill I hear back from them, like oh, I'll wait to do that after my surgery. And because of this hope of a newish bod I feel so insecure about my current one. I used to be that big girl that ROCKED it, full of confidence and everything. Where did my confidence go? It renamed itself Waldo and crawled into a bush somewhere. As far as a light at the end of the tunnel? It's been 3 months since my information session, at least 3-4 till I hear from them again. Yay, halfway?? On the plus side this time is allowing me to create better habits and taste the food that will one day be my reality. And I'm doing pretty great at that. If you read through this, thanks. I try to talk to my (super supportive) boyfriend but he's just like oh, yeah. Noo help.
jj7481 363 Posted February 3, 2016 The waiting game is just another hoop to jump through to finish your goal. Nevertheless, live your life. You can make preparations and not out your life on hold. The surgery date will get scheduled when it does. Until then no amount of worrying or pause will change it. LIVE!!!
judy1234 27 Posted February 3, 2016 I did this too. Went to my first info session in July 2015, now scheduled for surgery Feb. 29. It was partly my choice (I had some personal stuff I wanted to deal with first) but it seemed to take forever. It DOES get here though, so try to be patient. Maybe focus on something else for a while? A hobby or your job if you have one?
Cervidae 2,389 Posted February 3, 2016 You sound exactly like I did before surgery! It was about 7 months between when I went to the first seminar and when I had surgery, and it felt like an eternity... until I woke up from surgery. Suddenly the loooooooong wait actually felt like the blink of an eye. Now I'm 5.5 months post op and I can't even believe it's been almost 6 months already. Strange! Just hang in there, and always remember - this time is for YOU. Take this time to take amazing care of yourself, and become the best you can be, and learn as much as you can. Then all of a sudden the surgery will be over and you'll be through the door and moving on toward your new life and the new you.

GBLady41 393 Posted February 4, 2016 I definitely understand how you feel. And there are things that sometimes need to be put on hold. For me, it's a work at home job that involves communicating with my clients. And I know that I'm going to be recovering for up to three weeks before I can give them my full attention. I'm just being responsible for my business. So, if you need to put some things on hold, it's definitely understandable.
mngreeneyes 674 Posted February 4, 2016 I had surgery in November. I know that there were things that I have subconsciously put on hold until I lose the weight. I say subconsciously, because I tried not to do put things on hold, but I also didn't pursue opportunities to do things while prepping for surgery. The only outright choice I made to put on hold was my job search and I waited until I had met with my surgeon and sent in the insurance paperwork for final approval about a month before my actual surgery to suspend the hunt. That was when I knew surgery would be coming fast and it did. From Insurance approval to surgery was almost exactly 2 weeks. I was afraid that I would get an interview when I was still out recovering and I had never had surgery before so I wasn't sure how fast I would recoup. As it is I have half-heartedly been job hunting since Christmas and will be hitting it hard again next week! Enjoy and use the prep time to learn new habits. It helps immensely. pam
