So I've had a tough go. It started Tuesday morning when I was used as a pin cushion because they couldn't get an iv in. Woke up in terrible pain. Nurses made me move beds as soon as I woke up, by myself which I thought was messed up lol. Since then I've fought the gas pains and the pain from my drain. It's WAY better now than it was on Tuesday so I'm thankful for that. I keep telling myself in the end it will be worth it and I'm so thankful for this opportunity. I hope everyone else is well!

Swallowing is so weird now. It's like you can feel the liquid stop at a certain point and then drain on down. Very odd.

I agree, it's actually uncomfortable for me. It makes me struggle getting liquids down

How much liquid is everyone getting in?

I've also found if I'm drinking to walk. I burp soon after which makes me feel better. I'm also using Gas X strips to help as well.

Scars are so noticeable especially the big one on the side. Tummy is swollen pretty good too.

I plan to go back to work on Monday. My goal is to get in 1000 steps tomorrow. So far I will walk around the house, sit in a chair, then back to bed and sleep.

So far worth it. No feelings of hunger at all!!!

No real hunger, but definitely weak. Going to try to get two Protein shakes in today, which will be 320 calories and 60 grams of Protein. I mixed a chocolate and vanilla one together since they both taste better diluted. I also thinned a bit with skim milk, so there is a bit more protein coming in there.

The shakes actually taste pretty good, so that's a good sign. Hope I can get it all down today.

I'm trying very hard to get down 2/3 of a bottle of Isopure Protein Water. That will give me 27g Protein for the day. I feel so full it's hard to get it in and thankfully my NUT guidelines are to get at least 15g protein for now since I'm still on Clear Liquids.

Fluid in general I'm trying to measure better. Yesterday I had 2c chicken broth (16oz) 1/3 bottle of Isopure Water so (6oz), 2 mugs hot tea and I need to measure how much water that mug holds. Can and how do I could the liquid in Jello?

I'm using an app called ihydrate to monitor my liquid consumption and so far so good

I'm drinking from 2 ounce cups but find that I don't tolerate plain Water well. I actually feel the water hit my esophagus or stomach and it's quite uncomfortable but ice definitely works better. I'm supposed to be getting in 40 G Protein and 43 oz of water and that hasn't happened yet. I'm drinking the Isopure, ice chips and poweraide zero - hopefully today is a better liquid day ????

Congrats to those who aren't struggling with liquids

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
