chochlte1 8 Posted February 2, 2016 So now 6 days post op and uber excited about my 1st follow up appointment on Friday! My latest discovery is that I am ALWAYS cold and at the expense of my kids the heater is always on. Does/Did anyone else experience this new frozen?
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted February 2, 2016 Absolutely. I was freezing right after the surgery. Part of this is because a lot of your blood is being routed away from your extremities to your core for healing. Eventually, you may be cold because of fat loss. Hot tea and soup/broth are helpful for warming up (even if you just hold a mug in your hands). Bundle up!
OKCPirate 5,323 Posted February 2, 2016 It's a common complaint with some. Not sure why, did not have that effect on me, so it's not universal.
CSchulden 61 Posted February 2, 2016 I had this discussion with my doc today. It's perfectly normal and common. The recommendation is to bundle up and sip something warm. It may eventually go away, or not, just depends on you. I am 6 weeks post op as of yesterday and mine is gradually going away. Good luck!!!
chochlte1 8 Posted February 2, 2016 Oh thanks that is comforting to hear. I will continue to bundle up :-)
nomilktoday 83 Posted February 14, 2016 I was, and still am, constantly cold. Still, I have lost 88 pounds in 5 months, so being cold is fine by me!!
Dub 9,922 Posted February 14, 2016 Yes......cold is sorta the new norm. We are having a very mild winter here, yet I'm always wearing a coat, it seems. What's ironic is that I used to freaking love cold weather.....hunting seasons were more fun when it was cold. Now....the idea of freezing my butt off in the woods is just not something I care to do.
