Just getting ready to go into hospital. Still not feeling too nervous but know the butterflies will start soon. Nil by mouth now until op. Have to be there by 7.15 but not sure when procedure will be. Endoscopy first to check all is okay and if it is straight into procedure. Hope it's not too late in the day. Will post when I am on the ward afterwards.

Prayers for a pain-free recovery going "upstairs" for you. --will be right here, waiting to hear that it is time to move over and give you room on "The Losers' Bench".

God's speed, my friend,

Valentina

@@jaydee68 GOOD LUCK TODAY!!! Expect the worst and be happy when it's not as bad as you thought.

I am day 4, morning was rough, had cramps and spasms. Thats when I have to take a zanax. Helps a bunch to calm things down. I am also learning that I have to have my Protein Shake as soon as possible after waking. Just a couple small sips really help. So, morning of day 4, I have lost 7 pounds. Pretty crazy, not hungry at all,

Hi all. Went really well only in surgery for 20 mins. Sipping Water slowly and had a little nap. Didn't feel a thing. Got throat spray and was woken later. Throat a little sore and have windy back and shoulder blades but nurse says that's normal. Hubby doing his best to dislodge haha. Fingers crossed I will be okay. Will let you know how the night goes ????

@@jaydee68 Just follow the rules, and make sure you take your pills, for me they are easier to take after a sip or two of Protein Shake. Moving around helps too. Hope everything goes well for you!

Oh goodness what a night. As I have had no food now for 36 hours and sips of Water I thought a cup of tea ... Sips of course ... Would be good. Not a chance, no sooner it was in it was out. I have had sickness four times during the night starting with acid in my throat and then an almighty throw up but it lasts seconds. Hopefully this will calm down ... I hate being sick. They gave me Gaviscon for my acid as I cannot take food yet. Just woke up to the smell of burned toast which is not good at the best of times but when you feel hungry. I hope they feed me today, just a bit of yoghurt or as you lot have said Protein Shake would help. Feeling cold and hungry but not starving, just like I need a snack. Well done candykerr7 on losing 7 lbs, all this makes it sound better when you lose the lbs.

@@jaydee68 I had one of those kinda mornings yesterday, tried to get dressed to go work, and started having major acid and spasms. I chewed some tums and Water, then took a xanax and went back to bed. The rest of the day was very good, and I am at work this morning feeling fine. A little weak for sure, and it's funny, but I have to have my Protein Shake before I can even have coffee now, since I haven't had any real food since Thursday. Thankfully, I love the Protein Shakes I bought, they are called pure Protein, frosty chocolate. 35 grams of protein and only 4 carbs. Makes me feel better much faster. Every day, it gets a little better, just hang in there. I really think this is going to work!

Today hasn't been too bad. Still being sick but not so much. Mind you the other end not so good. They said I can eat today but still waiting for a yoghurt. I will go buy some shakes when I get out. Tummy aches sometimes and no can only lie on my left or my back. I love sleeping on my right so that's a bit of a mare. Hope they send me home tomorrow!! Thanks for all the thoughts. Means a lot!

Good morning all. Was sick once last night but today I got my first yoghurt ... My mouth didn't know what to do with the tangy taste but I have stuck to the 20 20 rule. Had a drink with some anti acid tablets so waited 20 mins before I had two tablespoons of yoghurt. 20 mins is up so I am going to drink now and then some more yoghurt in a while. Consultant came down and said if I can keep this down I can go home Hurray!!! Will keep you updated.

Did you get out? I'm curious where you live. I've only heard of it out patient before.

Does Soup stay down for you? That is still the #1 thing I crave.

Good luck on your journey!

Hi @SLSH. Yes I got out on Wednesday I can only eat two spoonfuls of Soup otherwise I am creased. It's still blended to nothing though. I haven't been sick since so now making sure I have Multi Vitamins, trying to drink some Protein Drinks but can't drink too much, Water of course, had a little tea but again it's only a few sips, I did manage a full yoghurt yesterday but took me nearly an hour to eat it. I try and keep to the 20 20 rules. No drinking for 20 mins before eating and no eating 20 mins before drinking. Still got myself propped up in bed as feels uncomfortable laid flat. I'm in the UK.

Hello all. I got the balloon on Thursday. It's been two days. Still getting sick. I will ask my doctor next week but wondering if any of you have experienced this... I'm sipping lots of Water and a Protein water. I'm wondering if the balloon can get lodged so low that fluids can't pass? Seem like when I get sick I'm loosing all the Fluid I've worked to get in me.!

AnnCade

I was pretty sick for the first 5 days or so, but it got better day by day. I drank Protein Shakes and Water mostly. Try just a little at a time, and don't use a straw. Straws put too much air in with the water. I have shoved mine over more that once, and doing a downward dog yoga pose seems to help too. I till my sister today, if you knew you'd be sicker than hell for maybe two weeks, but you'd lose the weight would you do it? Of course she said hell yes, so just plan to deal with it. I'm on day 8, and have lost 13 pounds. Good luck to you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
