December 2015 sleevers progress check

Recommended Posts

HI-Met with my doctor yesterday for my 90 day check in and he said that progress was right where it should be and to relax about the stalls and stop adding pressure to myself.

He also said that there is no reason to avoid carbonation medically but that it may cause some upset when i drink it. Has anyone had anything carbonated since the surgery??

I just bought a sprite zero from the soda machine at work. it is sitting here poured nicely over ice. But i am so scared to try it, looks delicious though, much rather this than water!!

Curious if anyone has had any reactions when trying carbonated beverages?

I have had carbonation in various forms. Champagne was okay for a sip. The more bubbles the higher the upchuck factor.

Congrats! I am December 8th, 2015 and am down 45 since day of surgery. I definitely see it in my face and can tell in my clothing. I am 38 from the original goal I set with my surgeon in the beginning of all this. Fingers crossed!!!

I have done some carbonation since surgery, like others have mentioned let it sit for a bit and allow bubbles to dissipate before you drink and sip slowly. It doesn't make me sick at my stomach; it just makes me feel like I need to burp and can't if I go to fast.

I'm 11 weeks out (and a day). sleeved 12/15

I'm doing well with the diet, still struggling with fluids. I'm able to hit at least 40-50 oz a day but can't seem to ever get to 64 oz. Therefore I'm dealing with Constipation all the time.

So fun.. at least I'm losing still though

I had better success with Water when I put in the rule, "You don't get meal X for the day until you have drunk Water quantity Y." Because you can't get that water in after the meal. No way no how.

Sleeved 12/1 - down 46 lbs since surgery and 58 overall.

Getting all of my Protein in from food, haven't had to supplement with shakes lately! I do get extremely hungry and no, it's not head hunger or acid. I'm HUNGRY every 2 hours. I keep it low carb. Lots of meat and cheese.. No complaints from me there. There hasn't been any food I can't tolerate. I do feel like I can eat more than I should but at the end of the day when I look at My Fitness Pal I'm still hovering around 1000-1100 calories, which my doctor says is great. I drink here and there and it hasn't slowed my weight loss any and the world hasn't ended. I'm consistently losing about 2-3 lbs a week. I started in a size 16, and as of a couple days ago I could fit back in to my size 12s. REALLY happy with my recovery and progress!

Down 32 pounds. Been dealing with a lot of personal stuff in the past few months - husband is still unemployed but actively trying, adult sons making stupid decisions, daughter in her final semester of high school, and me having to drive to another city day in and day out just so I can work (and escape from all that)...it's been a mess. Some days I know I'm not eating enough Protein but my nerves are so worked up I can't eat. I was never a nervous/stress eater - I always feel nauseous and can't eat - and that still applies post-sleeve. I know I'm not getting enough Water - never have and probably never will acquire the necessary taste for it.

I do not regret my surgery but do wish life would straighten out a bit so that I can enjoy my weight loss journey!

I don't get hungry but get a strong acidy feeling in my sleeve when it's time to eat. It stinks at night when I go to bed since I haven't eaten for hours before bedtime. Have to take acid meds to calm it down.

Today at work, people really noticed the weight loss. 40 pounds down and I'm in a bit of baggy clothes. See, you just gotta lose 15-20% of your body weight and, bazingah!, the start to ask, "Are you losing weight?"

Um, yeah.

Hi all! It's been about 7 months since surgery and I'd like to know how everyone else is doing??

I'm down about 60 lbs total and feeling like a new person. Finally started buying some new clothes. The old ones were making me feel like a little girl playing dress up with her mom's clothing.

How about some updates? Please and thank you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
