Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted January 31, 2016 No. If I only ate when I was hungry i would never get in all of my Protein. That said, my definition of a "meal" seems to be slightly different post-sleeve. I eat frequent small Snacks and meals throughout the day so I don't really have well-defined breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.

Meaning I eat something protein-based about every 2-3 (at the outside 4) hours throughout the day.
Dub 9,922 Posted January 31, 2016 Has anyone skipped a meal if they are not hungry? Sure have. It's easy to do. I had some beef Jerky early this morning.....240 calories & 36 grams of Protein. I've been running around and hadn't had a chance to get back to where my tuna is and there's nothing but a junk food vending machine anywhere near me (at work at the moment). I'll just grab a shake later when I get home. That'll get me up over 60+ grams Protein for the day. I'll do better tomorrow.
Kindle 8,667 Posted January 31, 2016 Like Inner Surfer Girl I don't have defined "meals". I just eat every 2-3 hours. During the first 6 months I was never hungry, I just made myself get in all my Protein and fluids whether it was "mealtime" or not.
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted January 31, 2016 How many meals do you eat a day? I eat when I am hungry, usually every 2-3 hours. I can only hold about 1/2 cup at a sitting if I eat real Protein, so I get hungry more often than "normal". As long as I am eating Protein, not carbs, I won't gain. When I eat crap, I gain. cindyw41 761 Posted January 31, 2016 This is my first week "eating" and this my biggest struggle right now. I'm not hungry and literally forget to eat. I am trying to be better because I know too few calories is just as bad as too many. I need to plan better, period.
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted January 31, 2016 Now when I was first sleeved, I did have to make myself eat. It wasn't comfortable, it made me nauseated, and I hated the feeling of being full (still do). I had to sip or Protein drink or take a shot glass of Water on a timer all day every day for about 6 weeks.
animallover1247 249 Posted January 31, 2016 I haven't had surgery yet but when I saw my endo last week I told her I was having WLS. I remarked this would be different for me becasue I have a bad habit of skipping meals even now and that causes me to eat more later. She told me there was not a problem with skipping meals as long as you don't go over your calories per day. I asked if skipping meals slowed your metabolism, she said NO. I have found articles that support what she she said and ones that don't. My surgeon said I could stay on a particular medication after surgery, she said no way. With all this different opinions its hard to know who to believe! It's quite frustrating.
