cherryjello 2 Posted January 31, 2016 I have been able to drink 8 oz broth and Protein shakes no problem for past couple of days. My doctor's post op diet is full liquid, which includes greek yogurt. I just tried that today was able to eat a 5.3 oz cup, no problem. I feel satisfied, but not full or anything else. I thought sure yogurt would make me feel some restriction since it is not very liquid-y. Freaking out a little! I plan to ask my doctor about it but I don't see him for over a week. I hope my pouch isn't too big or there isn't an issue???
Mzdiggs 169 Posted January 31, 2016 I am almost 3 weeks postop and felt for the longest time that nothing happened even though I saw the x-ray of my tummy. Well this morning I had a scrambled egg nothing else and for the first time felt extremely full and uncomfortable, so yeah surgery is correct it takes time. I have mainly stay very close to a full liquid diet with Soups versus adding anything. I will be able to do soft food on the 9th. Not big on puree so Tay away from them. 2goldengirl 2,076 Posted January 31, 2016 Stop freaking out, it isn't necessary. If you read theough these boards, you will find that it's very common not to feel much restriction while you're on liquids and semiliquids like yogurt. Relax. Breathe. You're fine. Daisee68 2,493 Posted January 31, 2016 Yes. What @@2goldengirl said. Promise you will feel restriction once you start solid foods. The nerves in your stomach are healing so you won't get the same feelings of restriction right now. And remember, just because you are physically able to eat it, doesn't mean you should. Keep your portions small. Try 1/2 container of yogurt with 1/2 scoop of vanilla Protein powder. It will help with Protein and should fill you up a little more. Follow your doctors plan to a T! I hope my pouch isn't too big or there isn't an issue??? Why are you freaking out? What you are describing is completely normal, especially with liquids. I don't know what you are expecting. When I eat too much, especially in the early days after surgery my signal was a small burp (especially with liquids) and/or a runny nose. Just stick to measured portions, eat (or drink) slowly, chew thoroughly when you get to more dense or solid foods, and you will be fine.
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted January 31, 2016 Once you feel restriction, your goal will be to not feel it again. At least for me, restriction is not something I strive for.
cherryjello 2 Posted January 31, 2016 Thanks all, just needed the reassurance! Seems like most early pre-ops say they can only eat a few bites, etc. and I feel on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. Will keep on keeping' on
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted January 31, 2016 i was never one of those few bites and full people, with the exception of eggs. I used to feel bad, then I realized a bite is not a scientific measurement and who knows how large these bites or spoonfuls are that people are taking
