Hello New Friends! I was banded May 29,2007.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

my name is Stephany and I had the lap-band procedure done on May 29th, 2007 by Dr. Mueller in San Diego. My starting weight was 246lbs and I am 5'2". I am now 222lbs. I know that is a great accomplishment and I know I could have never had this success without the band. Unfortunately, I have been stuck at 222lbs for about a week now. I have went to two "fill" appontments but my Dr. wouldnt fill me because he says my weight loss is better than average. I almost wanted to cry when he denied me the last fill. To this date. . .I havent even gotten one fill. Is this normal?

I have this fear that I wont lose any more weight. . .ever! HELP!:help:

I was banded on the 21st and I do not have a fill either! My doc said the same to me, he wanted to wait until the weight loss slowed and I agreed. I feel like I have the best of both worlds for now, I can eat everything but just small amounts so for me, for right now, it works but as soon as the scale stops moving, I will get a fill.

Come and join us under monthly support groups in the May 07 thread.....the a-May-zing bandsters.

Cheers!

Maureen

calinurse Hi, I was banded on June 7, tomorrow is my first fill appointment. Like Maureen, there is a June thread for those banded in June. Actually I read both May and June because it gives me a good perspective of the future as well as the present.

When I read all the posts on the June thread, I get discouraged because I have not had a fill and some are on #2! My doctor's office, PA who does the fills, went on vacation, so this pushed my fill to almost 8 weeks. I hope that she does not say "no fill" tomorrow.

I have not lost weight in a week, but most of my loss was pre opt. I was having some restriction in the late June and early July but lately feel nothing, I can eat just about anything.

I know how frustrating you must feel, I just want to have that full or can't eat some things feeling again to keep me on track! I will let you know how tomorrow goes!

I agree with Maureen, join the May Bandsters!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
