12 days post need ideas for low sugar drinks

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve done 1/18/16 I'm doing pretty well so far. No nausea or vomiting yet. Started my puree diet Friday and would like some ideas for low sugar drinks. I'm so scared to upset my stomach or do anything wrong. I tried crystal light, but I really don't like it so I've only been drinking Water. Anyone find another drink that's they enjoyed?

I had my sleeve on 1/15. Diluted apple juice has been my saving grace. I do a 1:1 ratio for 8 oz, and that winds up being only 29 calories which isn't too bad.

Ocean Spray makes a line of "Diet" cranberry variations that I like a lot - Cran Pomegranate, Cran Mango, etc. They are zero sugar. At your stage I drank a lot of G2, Powerade Zero, hot tea with splenda and a splash of light cream, all kinds of broth, sugar free hot chocolate (made with 50/50 Water & unsweetened cashew milk), and V-8.

I couldn't tolerate plain Water or artificial sweeteners for 4 months, so I did Decaf herbal tea, broths, Bai5, diluted 100% fruit juice, milk, drinkable yogurt like Siggis or Kefir, diluted Vitamin water and Lifewater, pedialyte, coconut water, and added sweet-leaf flavor drops to my water. Not to mention all of the Protein Shakes, including Raw Fit, Raw Protein, Spirutein, and Syntrax Nectar Naturals.

There are a variety of Water enhancers. I don't know if you will have different reactions than you did with crystal light but you could try some other brands. I like Mio.

Try herbal or Decaf tea, either hot or iced.

I also like ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates: there are a variety of flavors.

You can try infusing your Water with something like mint and/or cucumber, etc.

V8 is also one of my favorites.

Thanks for all the ideas. I am a big Water drinker, but with minimal selections it would be nice to drink something different.

I use Propel lemon flavor. They have a bit of fizz to them so I open all of them, let them sit on the counter for a couple of hours so they go flat and put them in the fridge. They are great over ice but remember - no straws. Good Luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
