i just found this site today and have read a lot of helpful information! I noticed when looking at a lot of people's profiles that their current weight is 20 or more pounds UNDER their goal weight. is it typical to have a problem maintaining once you want to stop losing? Thanks!

It can be tricky for some to stop losing after they hit thier goal weight. More commonly, it's mostly just a matter of some adjusting their goal weight a little lower to give themselves a little bounce range in case of regain.

I hit my goal, and did continue to see how much more I could lose just to have that buffer. Doing nothing different, it took me about 5 months to lose 9 pounds under goal. Then suddenly, I stopped losing. It didn't matter how much or how little I ate, how much or how little I excersised, my body was done losing. I have been maintaining this weight for the last 3 months.

Sometimes our bodies are the ones to set our goal weight, we are just along for the ride ;)

Also, alot of people don't maintain the signature after awhile and also, my goal weight is my UPPER weight, I prefer to be 5-10# under goal.

Most people lose 80% of there weight with surgery myself included I now have to exercise and work on losing it . I lost 2 pounds a week faithfully with the exception on a few stalls then it just stopped . I wish I would have exercised from the beginning but I didn't so today was day one of exercising lol

The great thing about exercise is that it gets easier (and more pleasurable) as you lose weight.

I would bet good money that you will surprise yourself when it comes to exercise.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
