MsB7 64 Posted January 30, 2016 Has anyone had IBS and or GERD before WLS? How has it affected you after?
hurricanecarla 8 Posted January 31, 2016 I have IBS and so far only two bowel movements. I am five days post op now! So far none of the hard cramping that I have with IBS.
MsB7 64 Posted February 1, 2016 No cramping that's great. Congrats on taking back your life. Blessings
sleevenv 483 Posted February 1, 2016 I had both and both are mostly gone. What I've learned is that both conditions really are caused by WHAT I ate. Even though I never thought that before surgery. Processed foods, sugar and flour are definitely the cause of inflammation, which then allows healthy foods like vegetables and whole grains to irritate the inflamed digestive track. I'm seven months out and am by no means perfect, but the very few times IBS symptoms occur, I always ate something that instigated it.
SeahawksFan 444 Posted February 2, 2016 I had IBS for 12 years before I had the surgery and I am 15 months out and have never had an issue since the surgery. That alone was worth the surgery and I was self pay. Extra bonus.
MsB7 64 Posted February 2, 2016 Thanks.. I'm glad to hear of little to No issues after surgery. I am aware of some things that I eat now which cause me trouble but not everything.
