Hi I'm 16 year old girl who got the sleeve Jan/25/16. My original date was Dec. 21 but due to insurance issues was postponed another month. Post surgery It was quite the experience with the bad reaction to morphine and the 2 days of straight dry heaving but I have already lost a good amount of weight. It was all definitely well worth it!

Highest weight:254

Before surgery:246

Now:232

Height 5'6"

Also do any of you think I'll have loose skin based of my age weight and height?

Congratulations on your surgery. The whole skin thing is almost impossible to predict. However, at your age, weight and height I would say you got a great chance at having a bikini body!!!

I am 5'3" and when I was 30 I went from 250 down to 150 and my skin was great. It all tightened up. Stomach was flat and boobs perky. I gained it all back and when I lost my weight this time post sleeve at 43 I went from 271 to 140 and things are droopy and saggy.

Your age should help you tremendously.

Good luck and keep us posted!!

Your youth is definitely in your favor. Just wait until this time next year. You will be amazed at the difference. And by the way, congratulations of getting this under control early instead of wasting forty years of yo- yo dieting like us oldsters.

I think it really depends on how your body is shaped. We are the same height and we began at the same weight. but I'm 35 and have had two kids. I don't have much lose skin at 117 lbs except for my stomach and chin, which is where I carried the bulk of my weight. It really depends on where you carry most of your weight. If you're well distributed you probably won't have any.

Thank you for your response! And sorry if this is a weird question but do you feel comfortable in a bikini now? Like is lt not even a second thought for you. I would like to be able to wear once this summer at best but might have to wait until next year depending on my rate of loss and my loose skin. But very hopeful about that thanks to you guys

I had surgery at 36 and I was 302 lbs when I started the journey. I am now 172lbs., but 165 lbs is my normal. I tackling holiday weight currently. I had a big stomach and big thighs. Everyone is impressed with my skin. Truth, my tummy and thighs are flabby. I'm have a Tummy Tuck this summer and my thighs will follow. Don't worry about the extra skin at this point. Respect the process and be true to your sleeve. Own everything you eat or the lack there of and you will be successful.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
