I'm feeling better everyday. I'm still pretty sore on my left side where the biggest incision is. Having gas pains too but the gasx strip seem to help. I will try a shake today.

Also, is anyone having dreams about eating real food? I keep dreaming that I'm eating regular food and then realize I'm going to mess up my stomach. Then I wake up and realize it was a dream. :/

Yes! I thought I was just being weird.

That's funny lol. I haven't. I've dreamt of my surgery and that I was running around the hospital when I shouldn't have been.

Kayla - no blood thinners for me. If they gave them before surgery, I have no idea. I didn't realize a lot of things that were going on. Later I found out that my Multivitamin was through IV, my meds to settle my stomach were pushed through the IV, of course pain meds, and antacids were through IV. So maybe there could've been thinners. No one told me.

Just took all my meds and I'm feeling good. Pain is not that bad. About to go finish my chocolate shake and then it will be Water for the rest of the night. That puts me at 45g of Protein - not bad for day 2 with a frickin hiatal hernia.

You are so lucky. A lot of stuff they gave me orally. And I say liquid Prilosec tasted like dead fish. It was horrible. I got blood thinner injections in the hospital along with medicine to help cut nerves.

I ended up in the ear yesterday because of bladder retention. It was causing me to get blood in my urine. Ended up with an IV for dehydration. Another thing to note. Not all doctors understand bariatric surgery. During the ct last night they discovered that my intestines are inflamed, he kept trying to give me Motrin type products and I had to repeteatly tell him I can't take those anymore.

They ave me omeprazole orally, but in pill form. It was ok so long as I was careful how much water I drank when I swallowed it. The blood thinners I get injected into my stomach every day until the end of my stay. Because I'm here a week I should hopefully have those problems sorted before I leave, but I got a decent amount of liquid in for my first day on liquids, and I managed some Protein Shake, so fingers crossed everything stays fine.

My doc said to focus on getting the 64oz of Fluid because hydration is most important. It's easier to do it with clear fluids. I think that biologically our bodies can handle more, but since hydration is always a concern, he said to make that the focus. I'm drinking, but I'm still feeling thirsty af.

It's so hard for me to get all of my fluids. I have definitely been trying, but it's super difficult.

My Protein that I take for Breakfast is lighter than the Protein Shake I have for lunch. My doctor has me on thin protein through day 14. He stressed the importance of protein. The Protein Drink they started me on in the hospital on Day 2 was so light and good that I've bought some on my own because I can't see myself drinking two premier ready to drink shakes a day. This way I have the light protein fruit drink for breakfast, broth and sf Popsicle for lunch, and Premier Protein - the ready to drink - for dinner.< /p>

The protein has made a huge difference! I am up and about, nothing to crazy and still mostly in bed, but my achy legs have stopped aching, everything is getting better.

It's so hard for me to get all of my fluids. I have definitely been trying, but it's super difficult.

I notice that I'm getting better everyday. Yesterday my Water increased by like 8oz. Plus my dietician said to count all fluids to reach the goal. I think my requirements might be different though. Here are my instructions:

My doctor's office called me today to checkup. I have been doing things wrong. I have not been able to get all of my Protein so I bought a bolt house farms daily greens shake and I mixed that with the unflavored Isopure protein. The protein tastes like milk to me. No matter what. I have a very strong aversion to milk. I felt that as long as I was getting some fluids down and it was sugar free. Their recommendation was to mix the Protein Powder with Water only and syntax nectar

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
