atlmag 77 Posted January 29, 2016 I'm 8 weeks post op and as a new years resolution I wanted to make a better attempt in logging my meals. I have been doing a pretty good job and have been logging at the after cooked weight. I was thinking if I should be logging by the before cooked weight. It will boost my calories but also boost my Protein. Any idea which way is correct?
GibbsGirl 483 Posted January 29, 2016 I have always logged the after cooked weight. That may be wrong.
enjoythetime 1,457 Posted January 29, 2016 I have always weighed/counted the pre-cooked weight. Not sure if this is the right or wrong just what I've have done for nearly 3 years now and it seems to work. Honestly, I think there is only approx. 1/2 oz. difference between raw and cooked weight anyway.
Ronjohn 84 Posted January 29, 2016 I was actually wondering this the other day. Considering I cook for a large family, I knew there was no was I was going to be able to measure out before cooking, since I cook in bulk. After cooking it will have to be for me. If you use MFP I believe it gives you the option. Speaking of weighing... My food scale showed up toady...
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted January 29, 2016 Usually when you select a food in a tracker like MFP or SparkPeople, it will specify if it's cooked or uncooked. For recipe calculators, I always go by the uncooked weight, though.
liannatx 897 Posted January 29, 2016 I use the cooked weight, just because that is what I weigh and then eat. Now I am curious too if it matters.
