A Little Unhappy With The Boards......

Recommended Posts

i have been on these boards for about a month sometimes getting some really good info about the bands(i'm just now changing insur and doing research) and i thought that i would really get some good info from certain people(i will not name names) and put them on my buddie list and pm them from time to time with ?'s and to wish them good luck on their journey...well iv'e gotten no response from any of them....maybe they felt that i was bothering them...then i asked myself isn't what this board is about...sharing the experiences that u have had with newbies like me? I will go on record to say that if i do get to have this surgery i will help anyone i can whether they are a newbie or not with any info i have to share!!! Thanks for taking the time to read this..i feel much better....

Dear Unhappy,

I understand that it can be frustrating not to get answers from different members. Sometimes I think that people get busy and don't always check their email. I have not looked at my AOL account in 3 weeks. Although I am a newbie, you can always contact me and I will answer your questions to the best of my abilities.

Kindest regards,

I wonder if some people are like me and are unfamiliar with boards like this. I just accidently found a personal message to me one day when I clicked on "pm". So I didn't really even know the message was there or how to find it. Are you emailing them to their personal email address, or just through here? Hopefully it's all honest mistakes because I sure haven't run into anyone here who doesn't truly seem to care about other people in the same situation. Maybe we need a place on this website to click that says "How to use this website"???? Or is there one and I missed it :D ?!?!

Some people are more responsive to e-mail and others to PMs. I, for one, don't usually get to spend any time on e-mail and am much more likely to respond to a PM here on the board.

And of course, everyone has life to attend to. Participation here is completely voluntary and we can't expect instant responses every time. PLEASE don't go away, though, and consider posting your questions on the boards so more people can see them. That way you're not waiting for a response from just one person.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
