Are your co-workers as awesome as mine are?

Recommended Posts

It seems every day people are commenting on how different I am looking in a positive way. I am getting comments like "You are looking so good!" "Wow, you're getting so skinny!", and my fave "You are doing such a great job. I am proud of you!"

Hearing these things really helps keep me motivated! Sometimes it is hard to see the change in ourselves so it really confirms that I made the right choice when someone lets you know. ????

What has someone told you about the new you that makes you feel good?

I am SO glad you are having that experience!! So many don't and they hesitate to tell their co-workers. I too had a wonderful experience with them! (Unfortunately I got laid off 12/31, so no more... :( ) But I felt so so blessed to have such an amazing experience.

I am fortunate as well to work with people that have been very supportive!

A week or so back my dear Hubby made a point of telling me how proud he was of me :D

I am very blessed to have a supportive spouse. I told him that I wouldn't be as successful without him! He has changed his eating habits (lost about 25lbs) and doesn't criticize or judge me.

The ONLY we have argued about my surgery was last summer when I was about 3 weeks out and wanted to help do yard work. Florida sun, humid (June), lifting, etc - he flat out told me to go in the house :/

Congrats on your great co-workers and friends. They sound like good folks. :)

Hubby has been GREAT about all this when I was losing weight. He still tells me I look "skinny" and have a "cute ass." It helps a lot to hear this from your significant other. I wish everyone had a spouse / partner / family / friends / colleagues who are this positive and sweet about our efforts to become and stay healthy.

I have been lucky as well. Not a day goes by that my co-workers do not encourage me with positive comments. I have also been blessed with an amazing wife that has supported me without hesitation. She has really been incredible, and I appreciate everything she has done for me. I really thank her for her patience in dealing with my moods as I sorted things out. I could not have come as far as I have without her constant support.

I'm also very lucky that my coworkers are so supportive. I'm told daily that I'm looking great and to keep up the good work. It's such a confidence boost to hear such positive comments.

I should add that my husband who is also my best friend is also a big support! We are doing this together as he was sleeved just 2 1/2 weeks before me. He has been the best. Walking and exercising with me. We've done new thing together like going on a hike too. We eat basically the same foods and he does 99% of the cooking for us. I couldn't do this without @@Fatty McFatster !!!!!

Thanks Jane! And thanks so much for asking about Jason. He has an endoscopic ultrasound next Friday to determine the exact location of his rectal tumor. If it's 1cm higher than the first test, he may only require 2 surgeries. 1cm lower, he'll require 4 plus radiation. Crazy how such a small unit of measure means such a big difference. His first surgery is scheduled for Monday, Feb 8th. They'll be removing 2 tumors from the left lobe of his liver. Then 6 weeks later, they'll go in and remove three from the right lobe of his liver. The doctor said he may find others while he's in there, so he'll get those too. If the rectal tumor is higher and near his colon, they'll remove that when they do the 2nd liver surgery in March. Otherwise, he'll just have both liver surgeries, heal, more chemo, daily radiation, then the rectal surgery/ileostomy bag surgery, heal, make sure there are no leaks, then surgery to remove the ileostomy bag. Fingers crossed they can do it in 2 surgeries and not require an ileostomy bag. He's feeling ok. Still very upbeat positive. It breaks my soul my child is this ill.

Awww thanks. [emoji4] However, you are very determined and I think you could do it without me…though I doubt it would be as fun for either of us.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
