All, how are you getting the necessary Water intake during the day? I sip from the moment I wake up, until I go to bed and I'm still not getting no where near 60 oz!!!

And when I do drink too much, of course I get that awful pressure in the middle of my chest and shoulder/back pain.

Can you help??

Just remember some of the foods you eat contain Water too. If you drink other drinks that have water it counts too. I just drink water all the time and I don't worry about the total amount. As long as I am sipping/drinking I am doing alright.

Yesterday, I went to an all-day event that featured Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen (they wrote the "you" books and are on Oprah all the time). It was a great day and I got to ask Dr. Roizen a question when he autographed my book. He told me that anything that has no sugar and less than 15 calories is OK as Water. So, that includes coffee, crystal lite, regular Water, etc. I also drink something called FUZE. I buy it at costco or Safeway. I get the low carb, slenderize variety and think it's wonderful. I always have something to drink with me.

Hi,

You are really newly banded. I took really small sips early on too. Once I got on solid foods or a little before I was able to drink normally. After surgery I tried to time myself or make sure I took a sip ever few minutes at least. If I was watching tv, commercials I remember, drink Water.

I just had my first fill yesterday, so I can't really tell you about down the road. I was able to drink the bottle of Water they gave me fairly quickly afterwards. After more fills that may be different.

Good luck!!

I was banded on June 18th and can now drink (not sip) Water. I don't like Water, so I drink Crystal Light. My schedule is Breakfast, 2 16oz bottles of water, lunch, 1 16 oz bottle of water, dinner/exercise 1 16 oz bottles of water.

this allows me to get 64 oz and keeps me full between meals.

Hey girl!!!! Just continue to take sips as often as possible. It will all start to come along I don't think you can possible drink(sip) that much just sipping, so just do all that you can, and it will get better and soon you will be drinking a lot more. I can prety much gulp that same as before banding now, so now worries, just be sure to be sipping all time. PM me and tell me how your surgery went and how you are!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
