Hi People,

Do any of you experience really LOUD tummy noises immediately after (or even sometimes during) eating?

When I'm home I don't mind since I'm alone, but at work (especially when it's quiet), it's really embarassing.

Is this caused by something specific? Can anything be done about it?

Thanks!

My stomach made a lot of noise right after surgery. However, a few weeks after surgery it isn't quite as loud unless I eat something gassy like chili.

I'm over two months out and mine still does it. :(

Noisy tummy always here....always after eating, no matter what it is or how much I've chewed it. It's just my new "normal".

Hahaha yes! That's exactly what it sounds like!!!

It's just embarassing, but I wonder if it sounds as loud to someone else as it does to me.

Yep. It's as loud as my dogs' stomachs. What's shocking is that a loud as it is I would figure there would be some form of pain associated with it but nope.

Nope. No pain at all. So bizarre.

Mines horrible. We named him Oscar; the lion in my tummy.

My surgeon said it's "waves" coming up from your small intestine during digesting/moving fluids through your body. He showed me it during my post op upper GI. It was pretty interesting to watch...and hear.

I was just thinking this today. I'm 8 months out and my stomach makes all kind of noise. My husband always telling me need to eat your hungry. Told him many time doesn't mean I need to eat or hungry. He finally stopped after realizing my stomach make noise while eat after eating. Think it's still angry at me for having 85% cut out. [emoji3]

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
