scoots 16 Posted January 27, 2016 I am one day into my preop liquid diet. I am supposed to have less than 50g of carbs and 60-80g Protein. I have had a Protein Shake for Breakfast, light and fit Greek yogurt for lunch, broth, sugar free Jello, more Greek yogurt. Anyone else feel faint from it? I'm a 1st grade teacher and thinking I'm going to have to take the rest of the week until surgery off.
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted January 27, 2016 The first few days are rough. It's just so few calories. I remember calculating it and it was only a max of 450 calories a day for me, which is really not enough to function on. Also, As your body enters ketosis, you will just feel like crap. Headaches, thirst, bad breath. It's no fun at all. Just have to hang in there. Hopefully you won't have to take time off work, since you will have to be missing work post-op, but you might need to nap as soon as you get home from work. Also, be sure to stand up slowly and take a moment to brace yourself before walking.
Proud2BMe 1,016 Posted January 27, 2016 It's completely normal. You will feel bad for the first 3-4 days and then you will feel normal again. You may also have headaches and be irritable as well during that time.
bb8 4 Posted January 28, 2016 You're not alone. I felt very hungry and very faint the first few days of the liquid diet. I wasn't sure I could do it! But I did, and it definitely got easier as the days went on. Take it easy if you can (taking some time off might be a good idea, if you can spare it, but if not, try to rest at home as much as you can). You can do this! scoots 16 Posted February 1, 2016 Thanks guys! It has definitely gotten easier every day and surgery is in 2 days ????! This is way too tmi but did anyone have issues with the liquid diet when it came to using the restroom? I'm embarrassed to say that I've had to toss a few pairs of pajama bottoms this week due to a cough that was more than just a cough.

It can be a real issue in those early days!
