Beer and snacking--- did it, but wrong choice

Recommended Posts

I am 2 years post. I have been eating and drinking horrible since the holidays. Drinking 8 to 10 beers twice weekly was a normal thing for me. Of course when you drink you get hungry, so snacking was normal too. I know what I have been doing was no the right choice. Now, I gained 10lbs. I am very upset and plan to get back on tract.

In the last week I started having a burning feeling under my ribs and I burp more then I ever have before. Big burps! I called my dr today and was honest about drinking. He said that I have caused inflammation in my stomach lining and need to start taking Prilosec once a day.

Has anyone been in my position? I need help I know. Did I stretch my tummy? I hope not. Any positive input would be great?

good news

you have lost X amount of weight

you gained 10 lbs, not 11+

you are here looking for help

you are being honest with yourself

admitting you want/need to get back on tract

you have been drinking 8-10 glasses of beer

could have been 11+

called doc, now taking prilosec

better news

all the above problems can be fixed

you are ready, willing and able to get back on tract

you are able to go to point A, and drink Protein shakes

i know you can get back in the swing of things

once again be the success you were meant to be

good luck

kathy

I am sure being years out it is easy to just try and have a normal life. 8 to 10 beers at once sounds like a lot to me regardless of surgery. Glad you have decided to get back on track which I am sure will get those 10 pounds off soon enough. Take care of yourself and embrace the opportunity to treat yourself kindly. Stick around here for a while, it is very encouraging. Wishing you the best in turning things around.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
