Starting today, BariatricPal is proud to present a FREE and exclusive, one-week online screening of All of Me -- the award-winning, insightful documentary that follows the varied experiences of three women before and after weight loss surgery.

All of Me aired on PBS and was critically praised by the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and bariatric specialists. See below for more about the film.

The free screening is available on our website from Saturday, January 23, through Friday, January 29.

Click here to watch the trailer, then sign-in to view the full film.

You can watch the film as often as you like during that week. A DVD of the film is also available to purchase at a special member discount.

If you're contemplating surgery, the film will give you insights to help prepare for the psychological and social changes, along with the physical.

If you've already had surgery, you will likely see some familiar themes and experiences and know you're not alone.

The free screening is being offered in collaboration with Alexandra Lescaze, the film’s producer, and The Video Project, the film’s distributor.

We’re excited to offer All of Me for your viewing, and hope the stories of these three women will help you on your personal journey.

Sincerely,

Alex Brecher

Meet “the girls” — longtime friends who met through the Size Acceptance Movement. They’ve unsuccessfully tried every diet and every pill in an effort to lose weight. Getting older and facing more health and mobility challenges, they choose surgery as a last resort.

With searing honesty, the girls take us through their struggles before and after surgery, including some things they expected, some they feared, and some they never could have imagined.

Through their personal stories, All of Me shines a fresh light on the causes, challenges, and psychological struggles surrounding obesity in our society.

———————————————————————

“Touches on many of the complex aspects of being an obese person in our society today and the impact of completely transforming your way of living, coping, and relating to other people.”
–Jane Reese, Bariatric Nurse Program Coordinator

"Outstandingly potent. Honors women who address the reality of their lives with ferocious eloquence.”
–Wall Street Journal

“Its examination of obesity is serious, intimate and not at all sensationalistic.”
–New York Times

Thank you Alex for offering this to us to watch for free. But I am sorry to say I found it very depressing. Perhaps the film maker didn't set out to make a film that was inspirational but I have found so much inspiration here on this forum, and with my own journey, and so many others, that I guess that was my expectation. If I was considering WLS and watched this I would be so sad. Even the one woman who made the amazing healthy transition was criticized by her friends. And the ones who didn't have a positive outcome seemed angry and defensive. Sorry, but it is not a video I would ever recommend.

I watched it and I did like it. It was sad and a tad depressing but very real.

I think it did a fairly good job at showing different attitudes towards weight and weight loss as well as various difficulties.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
