Hi folks,

I have had my band for nearly a year now and I still love the new life it has given me. I lost 70lbs! and most of my aches and pains. I am frustrated, however, I'm starting to gain weight back. So far I'm up 10 lbs. I have lots of trouble eating nutrious food. Most meat, vegetables, eggs.... cause me to heave. So during the day I eat Protein Drinks, Protein Bars, yogurt and cheese. The trouble comes at night. I've always been a night eater and I've found that crackers desolve and go down easily so I'm back to my bad habits. I rationalize that since I'm not eating during the day, I deserve to eat at night. I know it's wrong, but...... I am having implants put in so I can chew my food more easily, I have joined TOPS and have an appointment with a hypnotist. Does anyone have a diet that works for them? or another suggestion to help keep me focused?

Yes - exercise!

I find after 18 months of banding, I have lost a lot of the intitial enthusiasm etc. I feel normal now and I want a normal life and I just dont think about food much anymore in the sense of eating perfectly, being aware of calories etc.

That's what I wanted out of being banded - a normal life and I'm thrilled that this has evolved. But I can see that I would gain weight if I didnt remain aware on some level - becuase now I do make a cake for the family and indulge in a piece, I dont worry about going out for dinner, I let my hair down a bit on holidays.

But throughout it all I continue to exercise, I run for an hour most days and do weight circuits a few times a week. It really is key to preventing weight regain. My weight simply never budges anymore, not even by a pound.

Jachut,

Thanks for responding to my "gaining weight" thread. I'm having trouble maneuvering thru this program, so forgive me if this isn't sent correctly. I do exercise. Not as much as you tho. I do Water aerobics 40-60 min 3 times a week and take daily 1 mile walks. Most of my problems come with night eating.

Pat,

I to am a "night" eatter. I've found that if I plan out my meals ahead of time it helps me curb any late night snacking. This way you're not so hungry later on during the day because you've consumed more during the day. Plus like Jachut said, it's ok to eat a peice of cake every now and again, just not the whole cake!

Brush your teeth. After dinner brush and then if you are tempted tp eat, the food won't taste as good. You may have to brush your teeth a couple times during the evening but it works. The only thing that tastes good with brushed teeth is Water.< /p>

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
