Anyone use a GARMIN gps running watch?

Recommended Posts

Have been looking into getting a Garmin watch & not sure which I like. The 10 & 15 look very similar, and then there is the 220 ... any thoughts?? Like or dislike them?? Birthday money is burning a hole in my pocket!! :)

I dont' have a watch, but I have a Garmin Vivofit 2. I love mine. It does have a clock function and I believe GPS, but I have been running on the treadmill so I'm not sure. It has a function where you can time your activity as well as just counting your steps. I bought mine because I can wear it swimming, which besides running is my main cardio activity.

I don't know if that helps.

I use a forerunner 10 when I run. I love it! I run intervals a lot and I like the fact that I can set a run/walk interval and it will beep when I change from running to walking so I don't have to keep checking my watch. It has all the functions I need for my activity. I would definitely recommend it for a good entry level gps watch

I have a Forerunner 405, which I love. Whatever watch you get, make sure it comes with and that you get the heart rate monitor. It really helps you to keep pushing yourself or know when you're overdoing it.

Love my vivofit also! I did get the heart monitor strap too but I don't always wear it. Still counts my steps and time if I don't have the strap on (though I intend to - I just keep forgetting!)

I have the forerunner 230 and a separate heart strap. I wear it all day long since it gives smart phone and only wear the heart strap if exercising. I have Garmin Connect, my fitness pal and map my fitness apps all interconnected. I love it and helps me to keep track of everything.

Love my Vivfit 2 because it is waterproof. I can swim and shower with it on without a problem. My husband got me the watch bands in different colors, so I can chane it up. The Vivofit also pairs up with their free app called " Connect" so you can log your exercise and communicate with other users.

I've had my Garmin 310xt for about 3 years now. I love it! I use it for cycling/running/hiking/etc. It's good for multisport, but if I was ONLY going to use something for running, I'd get a different model.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
