So I got approved and scheduled... Yay! However, I was told the approval process will take 3 weeks and the surgery wouldn't be scheduled until at least a month from the approval day. I thought, OK, well, I have 2 months before I see my surgeon again.

I started my diet and exercise, then my birthday came. It was a whole weekend celebration so everything went out the door for almost 5 days. (I'm completely back on track now). I was approved in a week and scheduled for Feb 15th. I see my surgeon in one week and I want to show at least a 5lb loss. What do I do to speed up my weight loss? Please help!!

Are you doing a liquid preop diet?

If so that will help you lose quickly

No, I'm have the roux en y so they haven't put me on a liquid diet. But I'm willing to do whatever, safely! Because I don't want them to choose not to do the surgery simply b/c I only lost a lb or nothing :-(

Did they give you a required amount to lose?

I should note my insurance doesn't require any weight loss before surgery. The Bariatric place, however, has said they would like to see some kind of weight loss and they can choose not to do the surgery. :-(

Did they give you a required amount to lose?

No, they just want to see an effort made.

Ok well in that case I would make sure to log any and all food in an app like my fitness pal. I would also cut out carbs and sugar and you should see a difference relatively quickly

Since you aren't on a true pre-op liquid diet, you could kind of do one of your own. Swap out a couple of meals a day with Protein Shakes and do high protein/low carb dinner and Snacks.< /p>

Safe = what you were doing until your wanton birthday madness. Your surgeon won't delay your date. Continue as you were without taking on self-inflicted punishment to atone for your celebration. Sure, you went overboard, but, hey, you're still here and you'll be fine.

Oh my goodness!! That's a great idea! Thank you. Do you have any suggestions of a good Protein shake?

For ready-to-drink shakes, I like EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control (rich dark chocolate was my favorite). They are available at Target and Walmart and some grocery stores. They are very low carb/sugar, which was one of the requirements my nutritionist gave me for my shakes.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
