August 2007 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I will be banded next week. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I am really nervous about how my body will react when I am in public. I start work nine days after surgery.(Elementary teacher) How did your body react to the band one week out? Were you back at work?

What is sliming again? I just want to be prepared so I know what to do. Thanks for all the info you discuss. BTW I am in northern Vermont.

747362.jpg HAHA!! dance.gif I DID IT!!! I DID IT!! I DID IT!!! clap.gif I GOT BANDED TODAY!!! I was so nervous!!

AND FOR NOTHING!! Ortiz's staff was completely professional and efficient and so very kind!! We've had quite a few laughs here too!! LOL cool2.gif

I'm currently writing you from my hospital bed. They have wifi and a flatscreen TV with sattellite in each of its private room!!

The only discomfort is UPPER ABS (LIKE AFTER A GOOD WORKOUT or AFTER YOU'VE BEEN SICK WITH A COUGH FOR A WHILE AND THOSE MUSCLES ARE SORE) and where my port was placed. It's still swollen there, but I've been assured it will go down soon. I can feel the outline of the port.. Docs told me that since my BMI was on the low side, my port might stand out more. HE SAID IN 6 MONTHS THEY WILL MOVE IT `FOR FREE `IF ITS AN ISSSUE!! thumbsup.gif

Earlier this evening, I woke up from a nap with cottonmouth..... So without thinking, I took a couple of big gulps from my melted ice. eek.gif OUCH! Felt pain similar to having a huge glob of peanutbutter stuck there!!! Walked around quite a bit after. That helps. I guess that's a common early side effect of band. There's also a cute little gizmo that you inhale deeply into 10 x's and that helps move around the air in ur lungs. Watever it is, it really helps! (bring GAS EX strips with you! A total must!!)

A couple of the patients had issues with throwing up afterwards.... Poor dears..... But they still trooped a long as the 4 of us walked around the clinic dragging along our IV poles in our hospital gowns and paper underwear!! SEXY!! sexy.gif HAHAHA!

BTW, there was NO CATHATER needed or used, nor were any of us intubated for the general!!!! Those wew 2 things I was pretty nervous about..... angst.gif

Well, I was just given a pill to help me sleep and it's kicken in!!! bed.gif I hope everything I've said makes sense!! I've taken tons of fotos, so as soon a i get a journal started, I'll upload those.....

Big hugs to all of yoy, and thank you so much for your prayers!!!!!angel.gif

I am scheduled to be banded on Aug-15-2007. I also am nervous but know it is the best thing for my health. I have been doing a lot of reading on this site and everyone is so positive and I have found lots of information to get me and support team ready for this life change.

Thanks to everyone !

Hi All,

What is sliming again? I just want to be prepared so I know what to do. Thanks for all the info you discuss. BTW I am in northern Vermont.

:rain:Slimming is when a little food gets lodged cuz u either ate the wrong thing, or it wasn't chewed enough, so your mouth starts overproducing saliva in a vain attempt to push that food down... apparently the saliva's hard to swallow, so you need to keep wiping it on a napkin..... That's my understanding.

:eek:PBing is productive burping. When food gets lodged above the stoma /lab band and comes back up/out. it's NOT vomiting. Still, you need to be careful because too much PBing can make your band slip.

good luck!!!! I'm so happy with my new band!!!!!! YIPPIEEEEE!!!!!:whoo:

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
