How long did the doctor tell you too stay out of work?

Recommended Posts

How was your coworker able to do this??? I am 4 weeks post-op and just now can go to the gym and feel semi-normal. I am still sore in the abdominal area and weak.

My surgeon wanted me out for 5 weeks but will go back at 4 weeks

Two weeks, but I needed two and a half before I felt human again. My coworker that also had the sleeve was back to work after 5 days, I was super jealous.

I wish I knew! She had no pain at all. She was tired but we work in an office and there's nothing physical about our job. I felt a lot better than I expected to but I still had some pain and did a lot of sleeping.

I went back after 6 days but I couldn't talk on the phone and took naps frequently. (My throat was raw after the breathing tube)

I needed a full two weeks honestly.

My doctor wanted me to take 2 weeks. I was on a 2 week driving restriction.

I felt great after surgery. I had the surgery on Wednesday and was back to full days on the following Moonday. Just get up and walk after surgery. It will help you feel better quicker.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
