Burning feeling under ribs and burping

Recommended Posts

I am 2 years post. I have been eating and drinking horrible since the holidays. Drinking 8 to 10 beers twice weekly was a normal thing for me. Of course when you drink you get hungry, so snacking was normal too. I know what I have been doing was no the right choice. Now, I gained 10lbs. I am very upset and plan to get back on tract.

In the last week I started having a burning feeling under my ribs and I burp more then I ever have before. Big burps! I called my dr today and was honest about drinking. He said that I have caused inflammation in my stomach lining and need to start taking Prilosec once a day.

Has anyone been in my position? I need help I know. Did I stretch my tummy? I hope not. Any positive input would be appreciated.

Hi there. Do you have your gall bladder still? I am definitely not a Dr, but the burping makes me wonder if it's gall bladder. When my gall bladder went bad I had severe pain right in the center where my ribs come to a V. And a lot of burping.

I am only 11 weeks post op so I have no idea about stomach stretching or being in your position. That said, you've come this far, so you know what you need to do to get back and track. Don't panic and go back to to the basics to reset you're mentality. Avoid carbs and stick with Protein to break the cravings. Good luck and hang in there.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
