You getting in all the Protein? and what is your calorie intake? I think that we are so calorie restricted after surgery this is possible where the problem is. There are studies done on caloric intake related to hair loss.

Sorry - I had the same problem and I took Biotin. Starts at about 3 months and continues till about 7-8 months. Recommendation.....get 80-90 grams of Protein, this is really the only thing that slowed it down for me.

Now at 10 month I have lots of little hairs growing back.

Mine started to thin and fall out at two months post op. Months 3-5 were the worst!!!! At 6 months things have slowed and I'm seeing tiny Hair growth. Unfortunately it's frizzy and sticks out everywhere, but it's growth :) I take Biotin and Vitamins daily. I've also increased my Protein intake as my body has allowed me to eat more.

Hair loss has been one of the biggest fears of mine since having surgery! When you say hair loss, do you mean thinning out only you notice? Or balding that everyone can see? I have waist length hair and I am terrified that I am going to start balding. Especially because I have had a really difficult time getting Protein in, I am averaging 45-50 grams a day....

@@amh13 I fear it too. 10 weeks out and I'm losing it. Not a horrible amount but more than normal. Girl, you better get that Protein in! You WILL lose hair if you don't get enough. Protein is the most important part as far as Hair loss. With that being said, even getting enough protein may not stop it. I get enough of it :(.

I wish I could get Protein through meat but my surgeon doesn't allow any meat for the first eight weeks after surgery. I am beginning to think my program is more strict than most. I can't have any "regular" food for 10.5 weeks after surgery...I think I am going to trying the GENEPRO protein everyone is talking about....

I'm a firm believer it's not just Protein but the shock to quick weight loss and calorie restriction. Post surgery it's easy to eat only 500 cals. Here is where you would get your Hair loss. Encourage to push those calories and protein if you don't want to see the loss.

Unless you suffer from chronic illness or genetic reason for the hair thinning, your issues are curable. I had similar condition post op and my doctor noted the condition as telogen effluvium. They usually suggest higher Protein intake. You can try some trial and tested protein supplements in the stores. Also, you can eat a few bananas every day. It will not make you starve and balance your diet. Though post op Hair loss barely lurks beyond six months, and it grows back. Other nutrients required to control hair loss is Biotin and, Vitamin B-6 among others. You can try Biotin Supplements & Vitamins for Hair Skin & Nails available online.
Hope this work wonders for you.

i want coddling and assurance I'm just a big baby. It's so drastic , non reversible and life changing. It seems when I was researching. I only found the positives now it seems all that sticks out are I negative points

I'm screaming inside my head

tring to keep my I on the prize but ......

I understand your fear. This was one of my biggest fears too. I did research and found that not everyone loses hair. And I am going through menopause and was losing it to begin with. But I found that if you keep your Protein up, take your Vitamins it will be ok. I actually found that since surgery my hair has grown back in spots. I swear it's because of the increase in Protein.

Also remember if it does happen, it's temporary and to me that is worth it. I love my new life style and I feel so healthy.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
