Lap band worked great for a year. Not slipped but can't take a fill.

Ok. So I'm just getting this app. But I see many posts about really bad struggles. I think I'm joining the ranks but if anyone has advise I'd love to read it. ...I got banded over 2 years ago. 1st year was wonderful. Then stress hit and my stomach went crazy and I kept having to take Fluid out. Then they adjusted my stomach meds and over the course of 4 or 5 months I gained 10lb.i went back last week for a small fill. Did great through Friday. Then yesterday I couldn't get anything down. I'm starting to do the same today. I need the presume for appetite control. But I don't seem to tolerate it now. I don't know what to do .

You know that being able to get nothing down is unacceptable. Put in a call now to your surgeon or NP or whomever does your fills to report the situation. They'll probably want to take out some of Fluid that was added last week. It does mean something that you're on a second day of not being able to eat.

Getting just the right fill level sometimes is tricky. The band is called "the fickle biitch" for a reason.

Don't become discouraged.

Have already called. They said to come in if I stop urinating. To push liquid. Then get in 1st thing Monday. If those don't hold I will have to go in. But I have already experienced the eroom. They have little knowledge and call the surgeon but my or may not ever get around to taking out Fluid. Weird to be up to 5.5 ml and now just over 3 with major struggles!

I am in the same boat. Band had not slipped but lately any fill causes issues. I am on acid reflux med twice a day. I want to go back to the days when the band worked beautifully and I was 8 lbs away from goal...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
