Is this caused by the surgery? Calve muscle decreased size in one leg only. Almost concave.

Recommended Posts

I have recently noticed a very noticeable difference in the size of one of my calve muscles.should I be concerned? Is this a possible side effect of surgery?

I basically just want to know if this is something my surgeon should be notified about or if I should just go to my regular doctor fir evaluation.

I don't know if it a cramp caused due to a diet deficiency or http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/sport-injuries/ankle-achilles-shin-pain/calf-pain. Either one stinks. Non-surgery related, so I'd go to GP.

I wouldn't mess with it. I'd call the surgeon. It's so easy to develop a DVT (deep vein thrombosis). It's probably nothing, but why take the chance? If it is concerning you, then call the surgeon. He'll want to know.

I second the call the surgeon. One sign of a blood clot (DVT) is a swollen calf. Please get it checked.

What I mean is the muscle on my dominant leg has shrunk. I used to have trouble rolling my pant legs over my calves and still do with my left leg and it still has muscle definition but my right leg has lost muscle mass and is soft and doesn't seem quite as strong as it used to. Was thinking maybe it's a sign I'm not getting enough Protein? I exercise and go on walks often so it's not from sitting around and doing nothing. There is no pain but I have noticed that my toes go numb on my right foot sometimes.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
