Hi Ive been reading this forum for a couple of weeks now. And been doing research for the last month on weight-loss surgery's And decided to go with the band. And today talked it over with my doctor who's going to get the ball rolling with the first steps.

I had lost 10 pounds in the last month which was good but the visit before that i had gained 30 o.O so I think its time to get a bit more help.

My major worry is Reading everyones posts I notice that i have seen very few from people as big as I am. I'm 5'7 and 440 lbs. at my highest i hit 650.

But I hit a major plateau in losing and have been stuck there for 5-6 years now.

Dunno yet how fast this will happen I'm on Medicaide so will have to see what kind of red tape there is.

excited and worried at the same time :)

Hi Telecia, I'm not as big as you are, but I really admire your trying to stay with weight loss for as long as you have. Hopefully you won't have to run through too much red tape with Medicade and can get your band quickly.

Good luck to you and God Bless

Congratulations on getting the ball rolling! There is a thread around here somewhere for lapbanders who started with a higher BMI, I will try to look for it and link it to you.. I hear you on the plateau, sometimes despite our best efforts, we have to run as fast as we can just to stay in the same place! The lapband seems like a great tool to help us move forward.. Goodluck with everything!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
