I just lost a total of 44 pounds with the sleeve. I am not at my goal weight but am having some loose skin. My brain is working over time and I had a few questions that hopefully someone can answer. Does loose skin add to your weight? My reasoning is if I get skin removal I will be somewhat at my goal weight. I have been thinking about this for a while so anyone who can help me I will appreciate.

Yes, loose skin can add to your weight. How much loose skin do you have? I have to say the only extent that I am familiar with it is watching "Skin Tight" on TLC. The people on the show have lost MASSIVE (up to 240 lb loss) amounts of weight so it stands to reason the skin weighs a lot as well. For a 44 lb weight loss I'm not sure how much loose skin that would equate to but I am sure someone on BP can answer your question. i think doctors recommend skin to be removed like 12-18 months after your goal weight is reached.

You probably only have 2 or 3 pounds of loose skin. I've lost 95 and I'm sure that's all I have, so there's no way you have more than that.

Also, most respectable plastic surgeons want you to be at goal or close to it and maintaining for at least a year before they will consider doing surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
