I am now just over a week out and I ended up having a allergic reaction to the glue they use to close the incisions. The big incision is so uncomfortable and red and swollen. Dr said to just put aloe Vera on the areas and take benadryl. Has anyone else experience this??

I had four incisions and two of them were itchy and got blisters under the band-aids, even though they used the same steri-strips, glue, and band-aids on all four of them. I used hydrocortisone cream on them.

I meant there were blisters under two of them.

Yes I have had 4 different surgeries and I have had allergic reactions to the glue and the strips. I have always taken the strips off after about 4 days. I also use a antibiotic ointment on it as soon as the last strip is off. I had my first surgery in 2006 and found this out the hard way after a severe car accident that caused both bones in my arm to brake. Then I had a very large incision and it took a while for it to heal. I also had a breast biopsy, my sleeve and then gall bladder surgery 3 weeks ago. It only last about 2 weeks and if you put cream on maybe less. Hope this helps.

I had an allergic reaction to the glue also. My surgeon told me to use non-acetone nail polish remover to remove the glue. I was horrified! She assured me it was fine and the incisions were healed (it was 6 days post-op) but I was still very wary. I told her I'd take Benadryl and wait a little longer to see if the glue would come off naturally and she just laughed. I was so uncomfortable I ended up using the nail polish remover the next day. It was fine and everything cleared up immediately.

My doctor told me to take a washcloth and rub over it and the glue would come off. For the most part most of them have come off and the redness and itching has calmed down in those areas but for the other areas I was too scared to take off, I will probably try nail polish remover.

Nail polish remover, that seems a little crazy, I'll try the wash washcloth.
