Not sure exactly at 6 months. I know I pushed myself up over 800 calories as quickly as possible, as I felt that was teh bare minimum I needed to sustain regular exercise. I am sure that at 6 months I was at least up around 1200? I'm in maintenance now (almost 17 months post-op) and I need to eat a good 1700-2100 calories a day to maintain my current weight.

I'm almost 10 months out and I eat 1,000 on non workout days and 1,200 on workout days. I'm 15 pounds from goal weight and it is a slow crawl!!!!

Sounds to me like you aren't getting enough calories and that might be slowing your loss. a e you experimented with increasing your calories for a couple weeks to see if that helps?

I'm 6 months out (next week) and I average 800-900 calories.

If I go over 1500, I gain. If I average 1500 I maintain so I have been working with the 1,000 / 1,200 number.

I am 7 1/2 months out and I get about 900-1000 a day, sometimes before I go to bed I have to eat a spoonful of Peanut Butter just to get that in.

Wow, maybe I'm not eating enough???!!!

I'm 4 months (and 1 week) post op - and I eat between 700-900 calories a day. Mostly around 700 tho.

And this is whether I workout or not.

As per my fitbit, I burn anywhere between 300 and 700 calories during my workouts. (I have a Fitbit Surge, its the top of its class and one where it tracks your heart rate, so I think my calories burned during exercise is pretty accurate)

Or is 700-(sometimes up to) 900 on key, too much or too low?

Thanks in advance.

Oh more info on me

RNY -Sept 21/15

No stalls as of yet (knock on wood!)

Lost 68 lb so far and all post op (didn't have a pre op)

At 6 months my nutritionist recommended 1200 calories per day. My weight loss had slowed and she told me I wasn't eating enough to support my workouts (I swim an hour three to five times per week and have now started lifting weights) and my body was in starvation mode.

I'm at 10 months and have lost 135 lbs to date (94 lbs post-op).

At 4 months I was eating 800 cals.

And correction! At 6 months I was eating 1000 cals. At 8 months I was up to 1200.

Sorry for confusing you!

I am 6 months, if I don't watch closely, I can easily do 1200-1300 calories without trying that hard. My goal is 750-850 a day, with 2 days allowed up to 1200. I was losing really fast at the end of last year and getting super flabby, so I went up to 1000-1200 to slow it down a little so my skin could catch up a little. At 750-850 calories, I lose 3-5lbs a week.

So many different takes on caloric needs after this surgery. Makes me nervous.

So, if there’s an apocalyptic event and none of us can eat when the food is available, do we just starve? Same if you get cancer or some other wasting disease? Age alone can do that to a person. What if the supply chain completely breaks down and there are no bari Vitamins, or, they’re $300 per bottle? Do we just die?
These things keep me up at night.

I’m almost 4 months out now and aiming for 800. I’d like to get up to 1000 by 6 months, but some days I really struggle to get 800 calories in. Might have to switch my diet to incorporate some more calorie-dense foods.

I assure you all of our relatives and ancestors survived war, famine, and plague or we would not be alive right now. I see my therapist when my thoughts get a little too focused on all the what if’s.

I see WLS as a tune up for my body to keep it running more efficiently. I don’t need 2000kcals to go through a normal day, just 800-1000 of good quality Protein and veg. and lots of Water. If the apocalypse happens, I’ll survive on watery cabbage Soup like my father did during WWII. People adapt mentally (with help from therapists sometimes) and our bodies adapt to almost anything.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
