What a great thread!

Yesterday I got my first "you're getting too thin" intervention at work. It was the exact same dire warning that this exact same woman gave me 15 years ago, when I lost the most weight I have ever lost on my own. Of course I gained it all back and more.

This is a personal victory for me because for the past 15 years I've tried so hard to get back to that weight again, and never could. This is outside validation that I'm almost there (another 16 pounds), to that size I was 15 years ago. Sometimes you can't see it yourself, so I enjoy the comments, even the roundabout ones.

I made a point of reminding her that this is her second go around on the subject matter, as she obviously wasn't remembering. And that just like I said then, I am well within the parameters of a healthy weight according to my doctor.

She seemed a bit ruffled after that, and I enjoyed that too. ????

My sleeve win for yesterday occurred at my gym

It's a 2 story gym with stairs and an elevator to access the upper deck where most of the cardio gear is.

Normally I use the gear on the first floor. Knees were shot decadess ago with surgeries from football injuries. Gaining weight every year sure didn't help. Further injuries from hobbies finished them off.

Anyway it was dead downstairs....zombie land. I could hear people shouting in unison upstairs.....saw them running laps on the indoor track and their were some classes going on.

I took the stairs and found a treadmill with a great vantage point for the next hour or so. Being surrounded by motivated folks is always a good thing.

Had that post treadmill weirdness pumping through my body afterwards that made the stairs a dicey endeavor afterwords. Did that old man stair decline.

Heading back there in a minute, too.....back upstairs.

Great Job! That is just awesome. Stairs are always hard. I haven't started going up any yet. Just down.

Good for you!!

I know how great that feels. Now say "I will never be there again" That is what I said, and I plan to keep that promise to myself.

I am VERY proud of you!

I know how hard you have worked. You inspire me every day!!

Well, for someone to notice that are you "skinny" is amazing!

You might have gained it back before as a lot of us have, but I am sure with this tool you are going to stay skinny!

Be proud of yourself. I sure am. I am not use to people saying that I am looking great!

Keep up the great work!!

Thanks for the great topic, @@Fat2Phat2016! Congratulations on your win for today, and also for recognizing it! Great job to the others, too!

My win for today is sort of a WLS win, sort of not. The “not WLS” part is that I realized (admittedly not for the first time) how much more I love my kids every day. They’re each so different and special. The “WLS” part is that I am able to appreciate this without worrying about feeling unhealthy and overweight. I can simply focus on appreciating my kids!

Another couple of wins today are:

(1) Snowshoed for the first time and really enjoyed it.

(2) Also, snow shoveled the driveway twice today, which gave me a total of 2 hours 10 minutes of exercise between shoveling and snowshoeing.

Does anyone else think that the world of weight-loss needs a new word for sliding in under 300? Since Onederland is a place, I propose TWOONERVILLE, another place, trolleys and all.

FMcF, haven't we already had a talk about statements like "I know I still have a lot of work ...?" Why dim the glow what you've already done. Please, please don't say such things. You should be a strutting peacock. I know someone else here who'll say the same.

I know you are right. But I am actually a shy and sensitive guy and I don't want anyone to think I am bragging or being arrogant. I just want to share with my friends on here, but preface it to make sure everyone knows that I by no means think I am done working hard to lose more weight.

I went on a 4 day weekend girls trip and was so nervous about getting on the scale this morning only to find I am at my lowest weight. I thought for sure I'd be up a few and have to cut way back this week.

Happy Monday!

My win for today. I hit my GOAL this morning. Surgery last week of September 2014. Starting weight was 222. This morning stepped on scale for first time in a month. BAM! 124.8. Goal was 125. Weight I was when I got married 11 years ago.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
