Anybody else have a huge dog that loves them so much its painful?

I have two Great Danes. They are quite clumsy and their tails are weapons of mass destruction. Fortunately, they've given up the idea that they need to sleep on the bed with me. However, when I get up in the morning, apparently that's the signal that my bed is available to them.

I am a crazy pet lady as well and just got home from my surgery in Mexico yesterday. My 75 pound dog was very excited to see me and it has been difficult keeping him and my other fur kids from smothering me. Last night sleeping in bed was very difficult trying to keep them all from climbing on me. I am relieved to hear I am not the only one going through this.

Great Danes are the best!!!

I have a Yorkie, Maltese, and German shepherd. I will tell you this, the big one was the most gentle. Boy she can really sense when she needs to be. She would even stand against the back of my legs when I was moving slowly up the steps.

Here's one of me and my cuddle puppy! He likes to give hugs but was really good while I was still tender after surgery. Unfortunately now that I am having knee pain that seems to be his favorite place to cuddle up!

I too have a golden retriever he is 15 months old. He is strong and fast when we go out in walks he basically is walking me and dragging me everywhere but the love they give back is amazing the most affectionate loving creature. My baby's name is Wade and I love him to death.

I have a 9 month old lab that is full of energy and two other full grown labs. I thought this would be an issue as well but it hasn't!

I am 4 days post-op and they can sense that I don't feel well. Dogs are pretty smart like that!! I haven't had any issues with them jumping.

I haven't had surgeon yet.

This guy loves jumping on my lap and getting picked up so I'm wondering how that will go.

I welcome any suggestions, thinking maybe I can get him use to changing from jumping in my lap now.

Many dogs will sense that they need to be gentle...except my Mom's dog - my 7 mo pregnant niece is under her in this pic! [emoji33] I would suggest any jumpers be leashed when you first walk in and have someone control them from jumping. You may need to keep them occupied with a toy or bone so they don't get on your lap. post-287902-14628859166135_thumb.jpg

I didn't have any trouble with Sophie jumping up on me, she is mostly fox hound. but she was the greatest motivator to get me walking outside consistently.

Two cats, they are another story. one ignores me unless she wants food the other one was all over my lap, but she is not big, it wasn't a problem.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
