Am I loosing weight too fast?

Recommended Posts

I've had my surgery on December 8th and today I am down 52 pounds and am concerned that I may loosing weight too fast. I feel fine but am still concerned. I am getting all of my Water in and also my Protein of 80 grams. I've started adding some carbs to try and slow it down some. Thanks for your advice.

I'm not a surgeon or nutritionist but it seems normal to me (and awesome!). I've lost 41 lbs in 3 1/2 months but I started at a lower weight and didn't do so great getting my Protein in at first. I've seen lots and lots of posts here about people losing that much and more in a month. I think your progress is great and you shouldn't have anything to worry about. However, if it's bothering you then reach out to your surgeon or nutritionist for a professional opinion.

Everyone loses at different rates. I would only worry that it's "too fast" if your surgeon seems concerned. As long as you are following your nutritionist's plan and not starving yourself, then there's probably not much you could do to slow your loss even if you wanted to.

No such thing as losing weight too fast when you are obese.

Also, please realize that you are in the honeymoon phase. It will not last forever and you will soon begin to hit stalls and then your weight loss will eventually stop altogether. So for the first 2 years, especially the first year, you should focus on losing as much weight as possible. If you get below weight you can then increase your calories but cross that bridge when it's needed.

I agree with everyone above.

None of us loses at a constant or steady rate and none of us loses at the same rate as someone else,

As long as your medical team is happy and you are following your program then you are fine.

This is a post about stalls, but there is also information about assessing your progress.

Embrace the Stall!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
