Nearly six weeks post op but weight isn't comin off. So frustrating. I was advised t stick t 3meals a day, no Snacks but feel so sick between meals I have t have snacks. Initially lost nearly 2 stone but nothing since. So afraid this isn't goin t work. Knew it wouldn't b that easy

Can you give us an idea of what you are eating daily, whether you are getting all your Water and Protein, if you are doing any exercise, and how much weight you have lost so far?

Okay, the misconception here may be that it ISN"T easy. Your surgery is just a tool. There are many more things you have to do. Agree with @@JamieLogical, how much Protein are you doing, how much Water are you drinking and how much exercise are you getting? How much have you lost so far? Are you tracking everything from food to exercise?

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the weight loss process. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience stalls and most of us experience our first stall about three weeks after surgery.

Are you following your program?

Are you tracking your food?

Are you getting in ALL of your Protein and Fluid every day?

Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed?

Are you exercising?

Embrace the Stall!

Well I usually have 1/2 oz porridge made with Water, dash of milk and raspberries. lunch is usually home made veg Soup and evening meal is some kind of Protein and veg. I find I have t eat something between meals as I get a burning sensation in my stomach and feel sick. I try t keep Snacks t fruit, nuts or a biscuit. I have started Nordic walking, using a cross trainer and swimming, so I try t do one of these a day. I have managed t lose 3 lb this week so it is coming off a bit but I feel it should b comin off faster considering how little my portions are, prob just being a little impatient. I have lost 2 stone in. 6 weeks. I,m prob not drinking enough water so will have t concentrate more on that. And try t increase exercise

Where is your Protein? Porridge, vegetable soup, fruit, and biscuits all sound like carbs to me.

A splash of milk and some nuts aren't going to have much protein.

My protein target is 100 grams a day. Were you given a protein target?

For me critical success factors are:

Getting at least 100 grams of protein and 64 oz. of Fluid, every day.

Taking my Vitamins and supplements as directed, every day.

Avoiding most starches and added sugar.

Exercising.

My reaction is the same as @@Inner Surfer Girl where is the Protein? No wonder you are getting hungry between meals! I was told to get 100 grams of protein per day. I DO eat Snacks between meals, but I sense my meals are smaller than yours. And even my snacks are primarily protein-based.

As I said, Protein is with my evening meal. Not sure how u say my portion sizes r larger than urs. I have a mug of veg Soup, and sometimes can't finish it, 1/2 oz porridge, or 1 wee rabid, and again don,t always finish it and a small bowl of evenin meal whether it's meat and veg or curry or whatever but usually can't finish that. I keep my protein for evening meal with veg so that I know I,m havin enough, then veg soup or salad for lunch, again so that I have my 5 a day, which is a struggle sometimes

One meal of Protein is not enough.

Our bodies can't digest more than 20-25 grams of Protein at a time. That means for me I have to eat protein 4 plus times a day.

You should have some protein at every meal and snack and eat the protein first.

I would be curious to see what you were given for a post-op food plan.

By the way, at only six weeks post-op, your priority should be Protein and fluid/water. Getting 5 fruits and vegetables a day will have to wait until you are much farther out after surgery. You need the protein and Water to heal and to lose weight.

Mayb that's where I,m goin wrong. I will try t include Protein throughout th day instead of at end of day. I did ask about tryin t include protein at lunch time but was told don't worry about it, u only need 100 grams so can have it in evenin meal. But now I will take some protein Snacks t work with me and include protein in my lunch

There is no way I could eat 100 grams of protein in one meal. Who told you that? That is crazy!

Here is a link to an article with high-Protein foods and their Protein count.

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/ultimate-list-40-high-protein-foods.html

As an example: 1 large egg has 6 grams of protein.

To get 100 grams of protein in one meal I would have to eat over a dozen eggs. Obviously, that does not work.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
