NYgirl01 0 Posted July 27, 2007 My BMI is about 36. I am in the process of changing my insurance to GHI HMO and getting started with Dr. Kwon. sleep Apnea, Pulminary disorder, asthma and weight too much for my joints. Can anyone relate and have you been approved?
Candle 11 Posted July 27, 2007 I just got approved with GHI this week!!! I have a self pay PPO plan ... I don't know how that differs from the HMO version. My BMI is in the high 40's so I'm not too familiar with their policy on BMI. They may want to see a few co-morbidities, most do if you are under 40. Make sure you do the 6-month diet w/ your PCP - they ALWAYS require it. If you get denied for some reason - buy a self pay PPO plan - mine is $415.00 per month. Way cheaper than the cost of surgery. Good luck.
EliyshevaLovesYahweh 6 Posted September 16, 2010 Hi. I have GHI PPO as well, however, no comorbidities and a BMI 38. How difficult is it to get approved by these people? I am currently scheduled for a consultation with Dr. Holover and am sure he will discuss a 6mo supervised diet... Let me know how things went with you. Cheers.
