I'm an ice Water kind of person. juice is too sweet. Don't like coffee or tea, or flavor drops. And have sworn off soda for good. DH is different. He dislikes plain water but will drink it with flavor drops (Mio, Dadani, Crystal Light, etc.). He will also drink a few Diet Pepsi/Coke or Coke Zeros a week. He also drinks coffee mixed with a Protein Drink daily. He also drinks a Protein drink or two a day.

I like iced tea with splenda in it instead of sugar for a sugar free sweet tea. Especially when I go out to eat.

I couldn't tolerate plain Water or artificial sweeteners for 4 months. I drank pedialyte, Gatorade, Powerade, Sobe Lifewater, Vitamin Water, Decaf herbal tea, milk, almond milk, coconut milk, coconut water, dilute 100% fruit juice, V8, and Sweetleaf Water Drops contain stevia, so I could use those.

My current favorite beverages are Bai5 and Ocean Spray Pact, which both use Stevia and/or erythritol.

I'm 8 days post op and organic coconut Water has been a lifesaver because regular water has been making me feel really really nauseous.

I dilute it down to 1/3 coconut water, 2/3 water.

Same here - regular Water sometimes has a tendency to make me nauseous, even just to take my meds in the mornings. I want to drink it, but just can't "stomach" it. Sorry, bad pun but couldn't resist. I do find it interesting that so many people have the same trouble with water. Feels good to know it isn't just me!

I gave up diet soda and sodas in general almost 3 years ago, and refuse to go back to diet anything to drink. I sweeten my hot tea with a little honey (doesn't take much to do the trick) and usually get a half & half tea - half sweet/half unsweetened. I am trying to get myself down to all unsweetened, but it's been a struggle. After giving up diet sodas I felt so much better and with all the janky tastes/smells I've experience since my surgery, I just want to stick with the stuff that I can get down and not have to resort to sugar free. I've never liked Splenda and barely tolerated nutrisweet. I have managed to compromise and use Monk Fruit sweetener in my coffee but that's it.

When I first sleeved I really could only tolerate hot/warm liquids. I drank a lot of Decaf and herbal teas. I sometime will mix the two of them.

Now I drink some iced tea (decaf), some Chik FilA diet lemonade that is watered down but by far I like the MIO liquid added to Water.< /p>

My co-worker who banded 6 years ago drinks either decaf tea or water with a splash of OJ.

I love plain old Water so does my tummy. I will sometimes drink chamomile tea. Never was a soda or flavored drink fan even before my surgery. But was a big fan of calorie laden dessert like coffee beverages. On rare occasions I may have a cup of java with cream and stevia( if I want it sweetened) post surgery. I still love a good chai. Not the coffee shop kind but a good Indian restaurant kind. That I don't need to sweeten because it gets too sweet. So that's my treat a cup once every month.

I do keep a few bottles of Powerade or Gatorade in the refrigerator incase I get leg cramps due to strenuous exercise. Haven't had leg cramps post surgery. It's just a mental thing.

I was sleeved 9 December and I have found that since surgery, anything remotely sweet tastes awful to me....so Crystal Light is out. Instead, I drink unsweetened teas, such as the Winterberry blend from Teavana. I usually brew it over ice using their "Perfectea" maker. The flavoured teas are delicious, even without a sweetener!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
