Drinks that are not carbonated?

Recommended Posts

What does everyone drink? I usually drink sweet tea before I had my sleeve now I am looking for my go to drink.

I do not like crystal light or any flavor in my Water. I do not drink any soda and I really miss that :(.

I cannot drink just plain Water right now....for some reason it makes me nausea. Anyone have this issue besides me? I am 11 weeks out from surgery. Hope this is just a phase I am going thru. I have tried Protein packs in water and didn't care for them either. I can drink coffee and hot tea but there has got to be something that I have not thought of.

Any suggestions?

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I'm trying to follow all the rules now to make the transition easier. I drink a cup of green tea in the AM and then just add Water to the cup all day. It has a very slight tea flavor by the end of the day, but it is enough for me. I cannot stand the taste of plain Water and do not enjoy Crystal Light much either.

FYI - Jade Citrus Mint from Teavana is my tea of choice.

I drink a lot of iced tea sweetened with stevia. It sits nicely in my pouch. Plain Water is hard to drink except in small amounts. I feel like it turns to a stone in my stomach. Powerade and propel are good alternatives. Mio also works. Not just flavored water, but Water with electrolytes works best for me. Juices don't work except in small amounts. Soy milk is ok, but I usually don't drink it straight. I don't have any problems with any Protein drink. I'm 11 months out from surgery.

I've had a hard time with anything cold or room temperature. So, I've been drinking hot Water flavored with crystal light. Also, hot water with a splash of light fruit juice (apple mostly). I'm also drinking my Protein Drinks hot. Maybe it's the temperature that's bothering you, like it was for me...

Try super cold iced Water. I had a problem post-op where any Water that wasn't ICE cold with literally ice cubes floating in it would sit really heavy in my stomach and make me feel uncomfortable. It also often caused a gurgling sensation up the back of my throat. I now drink water from an insulated bottle that keeps ice cold all day long and it has helped tremendously!

I drink unsweetened ice tea with splenda or I have found some sugar-free drink mix at the dollar store that tastes like Squirt, Crush sodas. I just can't bet myself to drink much Water unless it is flavored.

I haven't been able to drink plain Water since surgery. It's a bummer because I loved ice Water.

Then I discovered Tazo Passion Iced Tea and it's all I drink. There's no caffeine, no sugar, and no calories. You can also get it at Starbucks, which is nice if I'm out and about.

Powerade zero

Diet lemonade from chick fil a

(A treat!)

Vitamin Water zero

Minute maid makes these 15 calorie juice blends. The mango was OK, but the lemonade rocked.

Lemon zest with a teaspoon of honey in hot water.

Fairlife chocolate milk (cut 50/50 with fairlife skim)

Mint tea - hot, or over ice.

Cocktails??? Stevia water with a bit of burnt orange zest, orange bitters and a tiny splash of Chattanooga Whiskey for a skinny Old Fashioned.

I drank peach or grape flavored propel for the first year. Then I was able to tolerate small amounts of plain Water or I would add flavor drops to water.

It was a lot of experimenting to find what worked best for me.

I drink plain Water most of the time. Experiment with the Water temperature, warmer or cold until you find a temp you can tolerate.

I drink unsweetened hot tea basically all day right now to keep hunger at bay and stay warm.

If I want a flavor or something sweet, I drink water with water drops. They are stevia flavored water drops. Raspberry lemonade is my favorite

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
