This is all very surreal. After my procedure I remember being in the recovery room coming out of anesthesia in so much pain. I was trying to get the nurses attention. It was like torture haha. Eventually they brought me to my room. Everything is hazy after that. Everything but the stomach pains of course. The IV narcotic drugs put me out and really took the pain away. Walking was hard at first. I swore I was going to break something but you have to walk as much as possible after procedure. Helps pass the gas. It took me so long to pass gas out the back end! But it happened. GasX strips are a godsend. Have them on deck.

Anyway. It's 510 AM. Can't sleep because I've been sleeping sooooo much.

Good luck on your sleeve journeys ????

I was also sleeved on 1/18. (Fistbump) It's been pretty surreal since. I was able to mange pain really well while on IV. I was walking laps in the post-op ward. My nurses were all impressed. Coughing really hurt! Still does.

Now I'm home and I feel like everything is upside down. I HATE my Rx pain relief liquid, makes me gag. I really struggle with not wanting to take it and just deal with pain, it's that bad. :-/

I jab two challenges today; get in enough Fluid w/o help of IV. Shower and change dressings. Ugh. Not looking forward to either.

Hang in there. We're here together.

my sleeves brotha! Congrats. Yeah the walking made me feel better. So did the sleeping. Coughing is the worst! I'm still debating on swallowing what comes up or spitting it out. They have you on liquid pain reliever!? Gross. They gave me dilaudid in pill form which I'm sure gave me a horrible dream last night.

@@sumbrown and @@CzechPleez Hang in there! It really does get a little better every day. And I am sure you are asking yourself the same question I asked 10 million times in those early days/weeks post-op, "will I ever feel normal again?!?!" The answer is YES! Just be patient and take it one day, even one hour at a time. Focus on your Water, your walking, and your Protein once you are able. Nap often. Take care of yourself. Be kind to yourself. And be patient!

Day 3 post-op:

Today is much better! I took my (gagging, awful) pain med last night to ensure good sleep. This morning I woke up with minimal pain so I decided I would go as long as possible w/o taking my liquid poison 'er pain med. So far I've not taken any today (knock on wood).

I was able to eat a small amount of Cream of Wheat hot Cereal (maple & brown sugar) which made me happy. Everyone talks about the first "real" food they eat after pre-op liquid diet and then surgery. I am sipping on a cold Premier Protein RTD Protein shake this morning with no issues as long as I go slow. I am also better able to tolerate small sips of Water (up until today it HURT to swallow water).

As far as my Protein Shake goes, I am keeping a small lunch cooler nearby with several ice gel packs. After a few sips of shake I seal it up and pop it in the cooler to keep it max cold and close by for the next few sips. I don't like room-temp Protein drinks so cold is key for me. Plus, I assume anything that goes down cold will help with internal swelling.

I'm looking forward to "lunch" which could be smooth Greek yogurt or unsweetened apple sauce. Hmmm...decisions.

Hope everyone is doing well today! Hang in there #JanSleevers!

@@CzechPleez Glad you are seeing the daily improvement I am sure you have heard so much about! I think one of the things that kind of shocked me initially post-op was what a full time job it was to keep a schedule of drinking, eating, getting my Protein Shakes in, and taking my meds/vitamins. There is a LOT to keep track of and it can be hard to stay on top of if you start to fall behind at all. Plus I was napping a lot, which meant I wasn't sipping! Pretty tough! But it sounds like you are planning ahead and know what you need to be doing so just stay on track.

Gonna start cream Soup later.

I became a connoisseur of cream Soups post-op, once i was allowed to have strained cream Soups. My favorites were cream of shrimp (Campbell's makes a condensed version you mix with milk) and Progresso's chicken cheese Enchilada. I don't know where you live, but if you have a Wegmans near by (it's a grocery store chain) they occasionally have Buffalo chicken Chowder on their hot soup bar and it is the greatest thing God ever invented in the full liquids phase!

those flavored weren't too hard on you?! I just tried Tomato Soup almost threw up. Could have been too much sugar in it.

Sleeved 1/18 as well! Keep up your spirits guys. I am struggling with coughing the most. It hurts so bad! But thats to be expected. Havent taken any of the pain meds because they make me soooo nauseous and sick. But other than that I feel pretty good. Glad you guys are doing well!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
