francheskii 28 Posted January 19, 2016 So my surgery date was July 13 2015. I have lost 53lbs and have plateaued and haven't lost any weight in 2 months. I stopped exercising one of those months and I'm wondering if that's why I plateaued. Some suggested I may be in the maintenance phase. Is it too early for that? I'm eating 2 meals per day....high Protein, 1 Protein Shake in the am, and a snack in the pm. Any advice or anyone else experiencing this?
Cervidae 2,389 Posted January 20, 2016 it's usually advisable to eat 3-5 small meals a day to keep your metabolism up. It's entirely possible you've plateaued because your metabolism is working slower than it could be. How many calories are you getting in a day? Because one shake and one snack is simply not enough food for you. At 6 months, my bariatric center recommends that patients should be between 900-1100 calories. lifeofblair 308 Posted January 20, 2016 I'm 6 months post op also and haven't experienced this. I eat 3 meals a day and maybe a snack depending on the day if I am hungry or my schedule. My nut said that I should be eating between 600-800 calories a day. I guess that depends on your center though.

esskay77 785 Posted January 20, 2016 How many grams of Protein are you getting? I seem to recall that sometimes when you increase the amount of protein, the weight starts to come off again. Are you still keeping a food journal and writing everything down? That helps a lot.
dhrguru 1,238 Posted January 20, 2016 That doesn't seem like enough food/ calories to keep your metabolism going. I eat 4 meals a day, one is a snack, . All are Protein forward, so I get somewhere from 70-100 grams in a day.

That is a very bad habit to get into for anyone but especially if you are trying to lose weight. It wrecks your metabolism. Have you talked to your NUT lately? If not, I would suggest you make an appointment. In the meantime: Follow your program. Track your food.< /p> Focus on getting in all of your Protein and AT LEAST 64 oz. of Fluid every day. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. And, exercise.
francheskii 28 Posted January 20, 2016 Thanks everyone for your responses. I have an appointment next month. But I have been eating only 2 meals with 4 hours in between. So today I started with a scrambled eggs for Breakfast and I am going to try and have smaller meals throughout the day...to be continued!
ReeseLanden 18 Posted January 20, 2016 I am 5 months post op and I have hit a bump a couple of times. When doing some research I found it was when I wasn't eating 5 meals a day that I would stop losing weight. I make sure to eat 5 meals a day. I eat every 3 hours give or take. When you don't eat enough your body goes into starvation mode and wants to hold onto everything you have. Good luck!

I have been afraid that I may eat too much. I just started tracking my calories and excercise. I hope this stall passes! Thanks for the feedbak
